"Rare" Fish Minigame????
This game is my relaxation game. I play it when I'm stressed, to chill out and switch off my brain. Fishing is especially chill. I put a video on my second monitor, turn up the game sound, and listen for the splash to reel in a fish. I don't even have to look at the screen.

I got a quest for a fairly rare fish water orb (red and white lionmane goldfish), which I've never caught before. So I decided to try to catch one. I spent four in-game days doing nothing but fishing (at the correct spot). I didn't catch one.

Then suddenly out of nowhere, I get a new prompt that says I have a "rare fish" and to be careful not to let it get away. A confusing explanation pops up on the screen about watching where the fish goes and moving the arrows in the right direction, and before I can figure out what it's even saying, I've missed the prompt and the fish has gotten away.

I just RAGE QUIT this game for the first time ever. I'm not even sure if that was the fish I needed, but I cannot fathom why the developers thought it would be a good idea to add a BRAND NEW, COMPLICATED MINIGAME in the middle of the most mindless and relaxing part of the game, with NO clear explanation for how it works - and to even get a CHANCE at trying it, you have to spend DAYS fishing. And then if you don't understand the terrible instructions or can't memorize the pattern fast enough, TOO BAD FOR YOU.

The fact that it takes so long to catch the fish IS ENOUGH. There is absolutely NO NEED to add some confusing and complicated minigame on top of that. I am 60 hours into this game and I have only just seen the minigame for the first time. I still don't even understand how to play it, and I'm not going to waste another hour of my real life just trying to get a second chance at it.

I hate this. I don't know if the developers have any interest in feedback on the game, especially in English, but I hope I am not the only one complaining, and I hope they get rid of this absolutely ridiculous minigame, because it is ruining my relaxation game.

EDIT: I finally found the game wiki and learned that the reason I'm only seeing this minigame now is because you need the highest tier fishing rod, which I only recently got. I still think it's a terrible idea to put a totally new minigame in so late in the game with no proper explanation, and make it take so long to even have a chance to try it because the legendary fish are so rare.

I also learned that the fish I need to catch is only available in spring. But the quest I got for it (for the water orb) was on the bulletin board in summer. Which means it's impossible for me to complete this quest. I'm not sure why the game doesn't check to only put quests for particular items in the right season for those items. This will be the first time I fail a bulletin board quest, which is frustrating, but there's no possible way for me to do it.

This is why I will never upgrade my rod past intermediate. In regards to lionhead fish, you can send Chen Yuanzhou to the Blessed Land fishing spot, and he may bring back some lionheads. There is also a legendary Black goldfish at that location, which was probably what you hooked.

The minigame is yeah... just say i dont like it. For Fish, they lunchend an offical Wiki: https://immortallife.wiki.gg/wiki/Immortal_Life_Wiki
Going to the fishing tab and scrolling down you get a list with all fish and where to catch them.
The Orb can be purchased by the wandering merchant. But only if you caugt that fish by yourself before. So for this quest, you must have caugt the fish a season beforehand.

Some of this sidequests are of that nature. If you aren't lucky to do smoe stuff in advance or know what is comming, there is no chance to do them.

Oof. The XX is strong in this one. I welcome the fishing mini game. It was about time there was a more difficult mechanic for fishing, especially after they got rid of the misleading water splashes and thus made it EVEN easier (= brain dead). I only think they should revise the explanation on how it works. I had two rare bites, both around 12 am and pm respectively, but I didn't realise it was a "memory" game. At least that is what I conclude from this aggressive criticism. As for the board quests: Tough luck. This game has always been a "have ish in storage IN CASE" game, so I don't quite see why the aggravation is so stronk, but I guess it has to do with [redacted]. :)

I don't mind the rare fish mini game so much, but for some of them the arrows move way too fast for me to remember them. That stupid Ran Yi fish, for example. Can't count how many times it slipped away from me at the last moment.
