Underrated game imo. Like others have said, it's a little janky at times. The controls took a bit of getting used to, and the English translation isn't perfect. But despite the rough edges, it's a really fun game, and it's a breath of fresh air in the farming-sim genre. There's a lot of little things it does that set it apart.

Positives:
+The setting is unique compared to other games in the genre, and it actually meshes with the story and the gameplay. I've played a ton of farming games, and so many of them, regardless of their setting, still end up just feeling like "Stardew Valley with a paint job". Immortal Life is its own thing, xianxia-meets-farming-sim, and that's a new and refreshing combination.
+Cooking is really fun. Feels very physical and very satisfying. Like, I started learning how to cook proper Chinese food in real life because of this game, I was getting that invested in the dishes.
+Love the characters. Sometimes you'll get into long letter chains with them that feel pretty organic. You can invite them to banquets and unlock artwork of them, and it's all very charming. It feels like there was a lot of love that went into those drawings.
+It's just a really pretty game in general. The changing of the seasons is marked by a watercolor landscape scroll. You fast-travel by creating little terrariums of the places you want to go to. There's massive amounts of space to decorate, and doing so will improve your health/stamina regeneration.
+Lots of little QOL features that I wish I could see in more farming games:
++You start out being able to water/plant en masse, even before you unlock automation.
++Your storage system is enormous, upgradable, can be accessed all over the map, and can be filtered to find what you need even if you've got a hoarding problem. No more endless walls of wooden chests.
++Your tools and your cosmetics are always with you, and don't take up any space in your inventory.
++Recipes/upgrades can be bookmarked and seen anywhere, so you know whether it's worth making that trip up to the carpenter or not.
++You can send NPCs to gather materials for you (they still hang around so you can give them gifts/access quests that require them). It's not as efficient as doing it yourself, but it makes things feel a lot less grindy when you can slowly accumulate resources passively.
++The travelling vendor sells talismans to make plants grow instantly, as well as a loved gift for each NPC. She uses her own currency, but it's pretty easy to get.
++After you've cooked a dish once, you can quick-cook it later on without having to do the cooking minigame.
++Your quests page will give you hints on where to go if you need to trigger a conversation to advance the storyline.

Negatives:
-The controls. It didn't take too long to get used to, but the process of learning them was very frustrating.
-Combat is weird and floaty, and the control layout suddenly switches when you're in a combat area. You have spells, but they're difficult to swap between on the fly, and I still haven't been able to work out whether the element alignment of an enemy matters for the effectiveness of the spells.
-Not all of the recipes can be bookmarked (specifically, spell upgrade recipes and product research)
-The translation is pretty hit-or-miss. Most things are understandable, there are just some sentences or word choices that feel as if I'm missing out on context. There's one particular quest where the item in the quest description is called something different on the crafting table.
-Quests are abundant early on, and then really dry up late-game.
-Outside of quests or letters, dialogue is repetitive. Each character has maybe one or two phrases total. Chen Yuanzhou, you are my best friend, you must have something to say to me that isn't about the old man you see fishing at night. We've been here for three years.
-This isn't really a negative, this is just me being petty: the helper pet you receive is nowhere near as cute in its third form, and I wish I could turn it back.

All in all, I recommend it if you're someone who likes playing games to unwind, wants something new, and doesn't mind a game that's a bit rough around the edges.

Some of the UI/UX is a bit rough, but it's a good entry for the genre. Cooking and fighting have mechanics not seen in these kinds of games, though fishing is still 'wait until you hear/see the splash'. The overarching 'cultivation' mechanic is a cool way to push you into diversifying a bit as well - you can only progress to the next stage by maxing out three of the eight activity bars (farming, fighting, crafting, etc.). I also really liked that all of the main cast were contributing to the progress of things; they aren't just standing around all day every day while you go out and improve life for everybody. I don't mean that just in the sense of plot, either - a few of the characters can be directed to bring back materials while they're out doing their work, for example.
