by progressing the game, you´ll unlock new areas to explore. Keep doing the quests. You should unlock the area that has Mirror Sand and Loam Sandstone at some point.
(it took a while for me, I had several buildings I couldn't complete for the longest time because I simply hadn't unlocked that area yet, because I lagged behind in one of the quest lines)

(extra info: It will be a desert-like area, and you'll get it just like how you get cinnabar and luminous sand)

It's taking hella long for me to open it. I have all the trade routes except for one mystery one open. I finished Yuhua and currently caught up with all the quests. Senior Brother is also awake and it is currently Mid Fall of the first year.
I have more money than I can spend right now and just waiting on the event to fire.

I was well into my second year, I think summer or fall of the second year to unlock it.
Of course everyone has a different pace, and I did get stuck on another quest which slowed me down. But brother Xie had been awake for quite some time before I finally got to that area. I wouldn't worry about it too much, keep questing. As long as you don't get completely stuck with all your quests, it should progress.

you need to finish both Song and Mu questline and have them recruited, as well as have finished awakening the injured cultivator before the next quests start up.
In my game he is awake since first year mid fall too, but with all thoses quests I didn't had the time to check on Song ( the hermit girl ) and she also has a questline you have to do before you can progress further in the game - and breathrough to foundation - . Curently early winter and finally resuming to restore the sect buildings.

You described my exact situation. Too busy to visit Song because I have a full field with honey and silk to work on. every harvest I'm getting like 10-20 spirit stones and busy getting sand and obsidian to make more octopath wells to make it easier watering the crops.

Just a pro tip for anyone struggling to make moolah sesame makes hella bank and super easy to get quality crops from them. a stack of 99 gets you like 5 spirit stones if not more. very cost effective profit wise. sesame is so good I no longer keep anything under superb and that will soon change after I get 50+ of those

Things have settled down too for now, most quests are done, and with the Second rank water well, the shape of my farm is more or well finished.

Actually at 100+ spirit stones. honey makes a bank too. With a small field of flower I rack between 3-6 stones per days depending on if all beehouses are full or not, with a personal investment of absolute 0. don't need to buy or plant crop, just activating the 4 waterwheels, and that will change as soon as the automated version is available.

You need to build Xie and Yang Resident on the right of the Training Hall. This will eventually lead to the quest for Blazing Sands. Love my little Li Meng Meng.

As for the mod irrigation well, you need to complete the cook for Wei Hong,

Where do you get the materials for Yang and Xie residence? I only have Yuhua, Guiyun and Cave realms open. I don't see anywhere to get them in those 3 realms

I need emerald sandstone to make the Northern Hanging Bridge and Sect Residences (I've already built the bridge leading there)
I need Mirror Sand and Loam Sandstone to make Chen's house.

The only 2 quests I have active is Lake House which is to build Chen's house and The Place to Live which is Xie's house.

I am speaking acquaintances with: Song Yantong, Li Mengqing, Ji Yaohua, Wei Hong, and Mu Xia. I am almost speaking acquaintance with Yang Ziqin. You Jinghe will take a little more time and Brother Xie is quite a ways away.

Both Mu Xia and Song are members of the sect. half way to 2 hearts on Li and Song

You will get the Emerald Sandstone in the Flower Realm. Check the Pavilion open route and interact with Li Mengqing as she need to go there I think it takes her a few days.

I feel dumb now I was sure that there was only the Yuhua when last checked. I must have missed it and assumed it was a different realm. It's the Flowery Mystic Realm right?
