Learn Spells first.

I cannot progress to higher level as asking me to learn spell first. does anyone know how to do this? and how to trigger this task to learn spells? Thx

If you mean the break through, I just did it by clicking on the skills that aren't washed out. I think you need to do what it says for each break skill meter to fill and then you pick three of them. Then you're taken to a brawl with your normal battle set up with the three extra skill/spells for that fight.

To breakthrough ( at least in early stages ) you need 3 - 4 things :

- To have enough foundation (xp), that's the gauge below your character. you earn a few points whenever you do something. the most efficient ways of increasing this is to kill monsters ( the more powerful the better ) and taking classes with cultivators ( need to repair the main gate and the lecture hall ).

- Mastering 3 type of tasks. Fishing - cooking - crafting - fighting - learning - farming - whatever. pick 3 of thoses and you're ready to go.

- Have enough energy ( stamina ) to break through.

- (optional) have enough stats / spells / good enough weapon to be able to take on the breakthough challenge. The amount you need depend of your own skill as a player.

u have to get a quest with xie wentian which will unlock spells/spell upgrades etc. i was also stuck on this until i did this. (the sect journal section really helps when ur not sure how to get ur next quest to trigger etc) once u complete practise spells u will be able to advance to foundation ^.^

Brother Xie is awake and I do not have at the moment any quests to unlock spells. Not sure if this is some relationship stats with NPC? I got all stats green and ready to breakthrough but still is saying learn spells first. But thank you for info.

Got all of those and still is saying learn spell first.

How did you reach the practice spell part, for me the quest cannot be completed past 'Use paper cranes' It's literally the quest shortly after Xie wakes up... Maybe it's just my game that's bugged. That sucks, restarting over will take so long.

I just got the quest and completed it. dude didn't wake up from his coma for me until year 2 and took about a year for me to get up to the quest. I am sure it was tied to getting hearts with certain individuals to advance. I unlocked most everything BUT that by the time I actually got there...

doubt so. It's more likely linked to other quest progression. I waked him up by Fall of year one and I just have Ji ( the girl who go adventuring ) at 1 heart.

I am stuck before completing the learn spell quest too now. The guy is still recovering. I bet it's either time gated ( "X days after he wake up", and/or "not before day number X" ) or I have to do other quests first. Right now the town bridge is repaired, so is the sect kitchen and top left bridge in the farm ( didn't check it out yet ) and the only main quest I have running is to create silk for the ermit girl.

You need to recruit both Song Yantong and Mu Xia before brother Xi will recover and the main quest can progress.

This guide - while not up to version 1 yet - should answer most of your questions concerning recruitment and breakthrough to Foundation.
