All progress lost
I have 34 hours played on this game with almost all of mercenaries with at least an SS rank. I tried playing tonight and i can only start a new game. Anyone else have this issue? If so any fixes?

When I launch I get the message "Failed to save system saved data", and every save file just starts a new game. Not found a solution yet.

Yeah you're not the only one. I was about half way through the game and my saves were messing up while I was playing. Restarted my game and, poof, they were all gone. Only option was to start a new game.

That was a couple of days after it came out. CAPCOM still hasn't fixed it or released any statement on it. So factor it into the review for this game. Good luck.

Finally got a response from Capcom:

Originally posted by Capcom:
・We assume the possibility that the issue is caused because the process for saving the system save data has not been done successfully.

・There is no way to directly recover the system save data which failed to get saved.
Therefore, if you have the backup data, please restore the data from the backup.

・Also, this software has 4 types of save data; "slot save data", "auto-save data", "system save data", and "The Mercenaries save data".
These save data are saved individually, but the information which is saved in each type sometimes affects other save data.

When you backup/restore only a part of the saved data, it might lead to unexpected behaviors because the game cannot verify the integrity of the information.
Therefore, please backup/restore all the data at the same time.

Since I haven't been swapping out my save files I can only think the problem was it crashed while saving the system data and corrupted it. And without a backup or ability to restore, the only solution I can think of is it wipe all the different save data types and start from scratch (and back up all saves regularly).

Or sit on my hands and hope Capcom finds a way to fix this. And since I had to pretend I was in the US just to get any tech support, I've got a fair idea what I'm gonna do.

Would be nice if steam cloud archived some saves. So you would have a current save and maybe 2 others for backup you could choose from in cases like this.
