Sarumoon has a rabid hatred for first person perspective in games to the point they deny that the third person mode in village is fundamentally flawed and blocked me for proving them wrong.
at best re8 doesnt really explain what the infection is (if it even does in re7) and 1 charecter you dont get to know or see in re8 (only matterd when i played the DLC story)
you really dont need to play re7 to follow the simple story of re8
Thanks
In terms of the actual content RE7 is comparable to the SAW movies. It's more gory torture po*n than horror.
A little old lady in a wheel chair and a crazed old man chasing you around with a shovel. I wouldn't say that's a straight up torture movie like Saw.
Even the girl in Wolf Creek lost some fingers... hehehe
Also I can say that RE Village is way better in terms of gameplay compared to RE7. Actually in many aspects it feels very similar to RE4. Even the vendor is referencing his "colleague" from RE4. The inventory management is better and I actually think the movement of the character is faster. I've now made it past the puppeteer, which was actually a pretty good section in the game in terms of horror athmosphere and had to quite literally pull myself away from the game so it won't turn into all-nighter...
It's similar but there are a lot of small changes that make big a difference and improve the game considerably for me. Where RE7 may have been intended to be something similar to RE1 in terms of feeling it did that in a bad way - feeling clunky and just outdated. RE8 on the other hand feels similar to RE4 and actually in a good way hitting the right notes.
Although I will criticize the heavy use of scripted scenes early on where it got quite a bit annoying to constantly lose control...
Also for example in the escape section when you first get captured and end up in that room with the spiked wheel coming towards you I died twice because it's really clear what to do. After the first death I had the idea to use the wheels to remove the shackles. However going towards the spinning wheels just killed me. The game literally force me to move into a corner to just then do what I intended to do on my own but instead it did that in a scripted event. Not really a good solution in my opinion. But one could consider this a bit of nitpick...
