how the ♥♥♥♥ am I supposed to get past first village part when I am getting one shotted and every enemy takes around 30 bullets to kill? Is this stage on a timer and if so is there any safe spot to be?

This difficulty is made for new game+
Enemies are bullet sponges.

if you get infinite ammo for magnum it's a one shot kill. just stay in the house go outside to kill some enemies and go back until you trigger the cutscene. Urias can't hit you if you are inside
I was planning to not even use chris not unlimited ammo

If you're going fresh save, you absolutely have to skip as many enemies as possible or you will get hard locked from killing bosses. When I did the castle, I beat the boss with only a few rounds remaining when I had a ton. I only killed 2 ghouls the entire go and I still was down a ton of ammo.

Chris's part was suprisingly one of the easier portions since you actually get ammo for once. Kill everything on the way to the end. When there kite the furries while you wait for artillery to load, once it does, create distance from mobs and use flash bang and then use artillery immediately. Don't have to fire a shot at that portion unless you get trapped,

On my Village of Shadow run I had only 2 flashbang for Chris which I saved for Urias Strahjl... Don't know where people are getting more.

My strat is to leave the starting house with the shotgun for last, run, get ammo from the boxes, enter the house with the ladder, shoot the guy on the door to prevent him from coming in, do that till the big guy shows up, run up the ladder, drop down, run to the shotgun house, grab all the ammo real quick, shoot the enemy knocking on the door again, sometimes when that enemy dies, other enemies wont knock at the door so you can just sit there and wait it out with no real danger.

Some people just grab the ammo around and books it to the shotgun house, but i didn't have the ammo to reliable kill the knocking door guy.

Also when shooting the knocking door enemies, wait for their animation to be almost hitting the barricade instead of just mindless shooting, this whole thing runs on a timer, best not to dry your gun.

It will be much much harder if you wasted ammo on the first enemy outside the house before all of this, that is the cruelest of jokes aside from the Bela fight where if you use one of the explosives you get before her fight, you might as well restart.

I mean that I literally have not even thrown/used one flashbang as Chris as he has no grenade launcher or even an inventory screen. Is there a button to press on keyboard that switches grenades to flashbangs? What in the world am I missing here?

Chris doesn't need a grenade launcher. His arms are enough to launch the grenades

lol. I finally got the inventory to open as Chris, but now i wonder why in the hell they didnt just let us program flashbangs to 5 on pc or just do it for us bc going into the inventory screen to switch between nades and flashes sucks in this battle and i need the pistol often too so i want them all quickly selectable.

The timer for the first part of the encounter only lasts for a few minutes. I recommend waiting in the house where you drop down into the basement, and putting your back up against the part where you can see lycans through the chicken wire, so you can see any that drop in after you or any that try to enter through the small entry point near the flour bags.

Once Ethan gives the verbal cue "there's no end to them," move up the hill into the house with the shotgun ammo and immediately barricade the door with the shelves. You should then just have to wait until the scripted event, and fend off the lycans attempting to break through the barricades (typically one bullet or a knife strike will do it) until one throws you into the stream for the other scripted event (usually right around 4 minutes, after Urias shows up).

You can do this section without wasting any ammo, it appears to be on a timer and eventually you will always get grabbed from behind and thrown into the river (Kinda weird being inside a house, getting grabbed and thrown and suddenly being outside lol). On VoS I just used landmines and pipebombs to kill enemies when I was being overwhelmed and then moved through the buildings to help put space between myself and the enemy. You basically just have to kite them around for a few minutes until you are forced into the cutscene.
