Seriously stuck

I'm in the castle and have gotten to the grand staircase, where there are 4 statues which you need some object to activate, and a door. I have been to every room in this area, gone to every interactable object and can't progress at all. The elevator is broken and although I can interact with the statues I don't have the right object - all I have is a maroon ring. There is 1 bureau that says it is an easy to pick lock, but I get no picking prompt. I am basically stuck here with no idea how to proceed.

It's evident I have to find the right objects to place in the statues to open the door behind them, yet I can't find any objects to use.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Plus, the trader doesn't seem to have anything I can use on the statues. Or a lockpick.

not sure, it's been a long time since i've played this game...
but i think you're about to fight the daughters of Lady D. and in the progress you will collect statue objects.

you should check the ring again, i think it unlocks a door somewhere upstairs.

and i'm pretty sure right about now regarding the ring,
the maroon eye unlocks a door.

so don't judge me and don't mention i'm worthless,
you know that's just the wrong thing to do.
with such an attitude people will stop helping.

I don't think that is true; I see helpful posts, and Gin is being helpful here.

@Gin: I get to a room that has a painting of the sisters, but nothing happens. Somewhere else there is a door that you can interact with, but it tells me I can't use the maroon ring. I think it might say something like 'You can't use that object like this' (paraphrase)-which may be a clue, but I don't get it.

I don't remember where exactly, but the door has a head with empty eyes, it's somewhat a decorated door, so to speak.
the maroon eye goes in one of the empty eye sockets.

edit :(you need to separate the maroon eye from the ring -- Examine)
the fight with one of the daughters will happen as soon as you open the door.

I just figured out that examining the ring yields the maroon eye gem, which goes in the door I found!

Now to see what's to come.

I wouldn't ordinarily post a plea again so soon, but I'm stuck again. I've died repeatedly against Bela. I looked at a video guide (just for a hint) and the guy said you need to go to the prison in order to get materials for mines, but didn't show his he got there. I cannot find the prison. I've been everywhere. And then a Google search for prison location mentioned something about finding a prison map in the attic, but I can find no attic. I'm at a loss.
