For some reason the new resident evil games dont properly read VRAM
When i raise the graphic settings to an extra gig of textures-

I see my available graphics memory go from 7.2gb to 5.2gb. How do i lose 2 whole gb??

Does this game have a memory leak? Ray tracing is off and im only ever using 5gb of space in general. I dont have this issue with any other games except the newer RE titles.

But yeah, the settings here were confusing me. I got tired of messing with it and just chose balanced in the presets.

So when you look at display under options, it shows you the quality of your settings. The graphics memory doesn't make sense to me there. The numbers seem off.

But I did notice... when you look at PC Specs above Presets, that seems to give you a true reading for VRAM (In Use / Max)

If you look at right from the beginning in the main menu, it will show you using a lot less VRAM.

But then load a game and look at PC Specs and those numbers change. Walk around and check it out in different areas, it will show you different usage.

It seems like more of a true reading.

I just re-read your post, I didn't see you said the AVAILABLE went down, thats odd. The avail on mine says roughly 6gb and its always double that almost on usage. Do you have amd or nvidia?

Thanks, I just got lucky to notice that. Hopefully those numbers are more true. If people still get crashes, I am guessing they will just dismiss it as video drivers or something.

UPDATE: I didn't get crashes but i think the readings are true. I was playing 14 vram out of 12 and i was in a discord call. i got killed with a chainsaw (brutal i know). Than my discord crashed and reopened. i think there is limits unfortunately. Make sure your in the white for vram usage.

I wasnt getting crashes either, but i didnt want to risk crashing without a recent save or anything. But after looking at PC Specs you were right.
