Giant with axe too tough
I don't get what they were thinking with this axe vielding giant enemy. It's like they accidentally gave him too much HP or something. The fight itself is easy, but he gives you nothing when you kill him, and he is so easy to run away from. It took me like 15 sniper bullets, a bunch of explosives and a crap ton of pistol bullets to bring him down, just for him to give me 20K Lei? The ammo I spent on him costs somewhere around 50K if I had to make a guess. There is absolutely no reason to fight this guy, unless I am missing something.

Yeah, not really worth it but money is money, so I'd say that it really depends on how much ammo you have to spare. I remember that after killing him it was the only moment in the game where I saw my ammo amount getting noticeably low (Hardcore), and I did a good job conserving ammo.

He's useful for doing the achievement where you have to defeat 20 enemies with enemy attacks though.

Yeah, the first time around I had to not only spend every single bullet I had on me, but almost all of my crafting materials too. I am on hardcore as well and just decided to loot the room then run away from the second encounter with him.

2 bullets from wolfsbane will do it.

On easy difficulty maybe. On VoS this guy can take around 8 bullets from the Stake or a lot of other ammo (he has 25k HP there, I think).

But I agree, you shoudn't deal with both of them, unless you have infinite ammo. You can easily get the treasures without killing them.

I beat him on HC too, but it was a net loss.

beat him on my first try. Playing on Hardcore.

I actually don't know about you guys, but i actually had about 6 Wolfbane Magnum ammo luckily that i still conserved that i never even used yet

all i did was keep hiding behind the pillars. Use the gernade launcher to shoot explosive rounds when he's mid-air and about to land, then i just pulled out the magnum and just started going for head shots, and he just started wobbling and moving back after every magnum round dumped to his head and the 6th magnum headshot finally brought him down.
It's not that hard to beat giant guy with an axe, especially in VoS. Simply use Headcannon PZ, Wolfsbane, and/or S.T.A.K.E. and then shoot at his head to drop his health quicker while kiting simultaneously.

Bros I'm telling you, I didn't make this thread because he was hard to kill, but because he takes like 40 sniper rifle rounds to kill on hardcore, plus the explosive barrels. And your reward for killing him is worth 25K. I couldn't find a single site on the net which lists his health values, but he definietly isn't worth killing.

In fact I think I would rather have 6 magnum bullets than 25K Lei, and that's not even close to enough to kill him. I think in a shooter game you should be encouraged to fight things, especially when it is an optional miniboss.

Imo the game should had forced you to fight him and not be able to get away just like that. Supposedly you fight him in order to get Berengario’s Chalice. So that's a total of around 50,000. Not bad at all. Don't think of the giant as a standalone enemy.

Yeah, in both instances you can simply grab all the stuff in the room and run away. Would've made more sense if the door and the grave had been uninteractive until he falls.

I have a save before stronghold, so I made my way to the mill. Not as much health as I thought, but still enough.

This was on Village of Shadows, I'm sorry, I don't have a save on hardcore anywhere near that point. Moreau has 26k health on VoS in comparison.

That's pretty interesting, how does damage work in this game? Is it just calculated as your weapon's damage number flat?

Would be nice - Miranda would die from 7 shots from the Stake (4500 damage on itemcard when fully upgraded) - but no^^
There are several damage reductions/increases depending on the enemies and their weakspots (if they have weakspots at all), also a few "specials". Examples for these specials: You can't onehit the Haulers in the factory when you shoot them in the head, it'll only pop off the metal on their heads, even if they would die easily from the damage, Moreau can take multihits on his body with mines or pipe bombs, Heisenberg doesn't have any weakspots as far as I know (the orange glowing ones are just for interrupting his attacks)...

I'm digging into the game and its mechanics, but at the moment I can't tell you how the damage is calculated exactly, I'm not a modder or something.
I had to shoot the guy in the mill once to get his HP shown in the overlay and it was a headshot with the fully upgraded M1911 pistol. 600 damage as you can see - that's defenitely not what's shown on the itemcard. Maybe I can do some "experiments" when I have the time and make a list for enemy HP on all difficulties and how much damage they get from different weapons on different bodyparts :) Would be kinda fun, I think!
