They probably played on casual as the difficulty was not mentioned. Just to get the review up quick. Nor did they say they actually crafted every item.
As per director Kento Kinoshita the story runs around 4 hours. So if it is beaten in 2.5 on casual that makes sense, but going for all achievements it will probably be a bit longer.
Needless to say unless you are really itching for Mercenaries, some of you may want to wait for a price drop.
2.5 hours is incredibly short for a full playthrough.
Hiding Ethan's face seems like some sort of in-joke I don't get. I don't agree with him being "you". It just doesn't make any sense really. He's a person with a family and isn't me. So hiding his face is weird. I feel the same way about Link, Isaac, and many other heroes who are either silent or implying they are supposed to be you. The only time it makes any sense is when a game story is relatively slim. Ethan's constantly talking in 8. He's clearly not me.
I hear 3rd person is janky with him. So that's weird. But they do like to show off their cute female characters so I can understand why you can see Rose.
This Mercenaries mode is more spawn specific than any other previous one, making it a chore to do the campaign lightsaber unlockable and making the multipliers dependent on knowing the map rather than shooting prowess.
I guess it's sort of cool we'll be able to play as other characters, but 7's DLC felt meaty compared to the stuff we're getting in Village.
I don't count RE: Verse, that was part of the original package and supposed to be released shortly after RE8.
Luckily RE8's campaign was so good, that I didn't really feel burned about anything up until now.
I wish they'd just give up all the stupid Ethan doesn't have a face thing. It's dumb Capcom, please stop.
Which by the way, I thought Ethan's story was supposed to be a trilogy, but I guess Capcom decided to go back on that and make this DLC wrap things up.
Kind of disappointed because I really enjoyed Capcom's take on 1st person mode horror; 7, and to a lesser extent, 8, is much scarier than all their attempts at 3rd person horror. I don't really get scared playing as their mainline characters.
Length wise? If it's 2.5/3 hours that's much longer. Not a Hero and End of Zoe both only took about an hour to beat but were great fun and highly replayable. And we have no idea if Shadows of Rose is going to be just as replayable as those expansions or not, you're purely stating speculation there.
Well I would only count End of Zoe and Not a Hero because all of the Banned Footage content was complete garbage and had no replayability.
Jack's Birthday Party and Ethan Must Die were also awesome. Jack's Birthday Party and the other 2 were worth playing at least once through.
Ethan Must Die was a huge challenge, while Zoe and Hero had difficulty settings that changed the gameplay enough to matter. Both Zoe and Hero had saved games. RE7's DLC was the biggest and best DLC RE ever had. Most of them fleshed out the campaign.
