Resident Evil Village STILL CRASHING while launching....don't know what to do...
I've been trying to get Resident evil Village to launch this whole week and yet nothing. I'm aware of the bug and Capcom addressed it but I still can't get the game to start. It stops at the point of checking save files and that's it. I've tried uninstalling the game, steam, and many other method but still no luck. What can I do, please help.

The issue with the game crashing upon initial splash-screen and auto-save notification is Capcom's 10/14 prepatch.

To be clear, they didn't actually address anything proper...

They propped up a lame workaround for a select lucky few, (those who bought DLC to disable,) meanwhile many of us (including me who did not buy the DLC,) had no recourse and still no recourse to play the base game.

Many are still screwed, and it seems to be only Steam gamers. (Yes a select few on the forums will say they managed to get the game working.)

They fall into 2 categories, some lucky config:

Option 1
1 - Uninstall game, uninstall gpu drivers (DDU your nvidia or AMD drivers,) delete game enter RE village game folder from original installation location. (Or install to a different drive with a fresh folder.)
Re-install latest AMD or Nvidia GPU drivers, re-install game
Disable DLC if you have Ethan crap, or if no DLC, attempt to play the game normal.

This didn't work for me, I even bought the DLC to fall into the category of trying their BS workaround, and that still didn't work.

Option 2
2 - Install RE Mod, and delete VR files in game folder, and this will guarantee the game to work, (whether you bought Ethan DLC or not.) (You will see lots of DLC errors etc.)

Same thing happening over here. Just installed this earlier today (beat it when it released).

Is this maybe due to the new Nvidia driver that came out today, or are people here experiencing this with previous drivers as well?

Unrelated to the new Nvidia driver, 10/14 pre-patch from Capcom.

Yep, game still crashes, save to say, anyone of us who had the issue before, are not suddenly healed and able to play even after grabbing the additional 6gbs of DLC...

Hah, about time to get that refund going and rebuy this elsewhere.

I think this is fully available on EPIC.

Crashing here. I just reinstalled Village today, bought the Winter dlc, tried to run the game, crash as it shows the autosave screen. Did some research, tried disabling new dlc, tried disabling all dlc, same crash, same place.

Went to github and downloaded that framework mod thing, only installed the one .dll file, ran fine. I loaded old save, I played with graphics settings for 30 min, i played for an hour or so, no issues.

Midnight rolls around, I exit game, uninstall and wipe folder, reinstall from scratch along with all dlc. Crash at autosave screen. Reverfied files, crash at autosave screen.

I have my main steam library on a dedicated drive, has been a blessing when reinstalling windows on occasion. I'm currently reinstalling Village to the default location as I type this to see what happens. Will update in a few min with result.

EDIT: nope, same thing. this is f'in stupid.

EDIT2: tried disabling all dlc again, still crashing at autosave screen.

Well, I did buy the DLC. A 6+GB download and the game still crashes. I bet the £39.99 Gold Edition works fine! CAPCOM can gab a bit more cash of people...or refund some. I can imagine what steams refund team will be getting today!

maybe ironic but gold edition is just a bundle of the standard game with all dlc included, works exactly the same as ours do.

i'd recommend using ddu to uninstall your current driver in safe mode

then do a custom clean install of your new graphics driver and don't use geforce experience should you be an Nvidia user

Lol... Yes, a few of us have gone through similar steps, thanks for adding your story. Glad many of us have exhausted all normal human options and capcom still mum on the issue since 10/19.

just had a crash using third person mode during the main story only 5 min in! Refunded the DLC and not touching the game again!

I can't see this being a driver issue, since it ran fine after installing the REFramework mod earlier...?
TheKingEngine 27/out./2022 às 21:54
Okay... So I put $20 down for the DLC and this **** happens?

Many believe and I'm starting to believe depending on software running on PC, Denuvo and Capcom DRM is choking on some offending, ordinary PC program many of us unknowingly have on our PC's.

I know, its not MSI afterburner, razer, X1 Precision, Logitech, geforce experience, discord, xboxgame pass, epic, origin, asus AI suite, asus sonic suite...

Because i shut ALL my apps down and went cold-turkey with zero utilities, zero overclock and this game still chokes on auto-save.

(Even disabled network adapter and put steam in OFFLINE mode.)

(Yes, with the Mod, I can play, without DLC of any kind of course.)

This game and their QA department with their DRM rules/policies are fundamentally garbage; folks responsible on the higher-up side all need a PINK-Slip without a golden parachute.
