The game is definitely not overly difficult.

Casual difficulty is recommended for normal experience but Hardcore difficulty is a more realistic experience for this world, you can play on Village of Shadows difficulty but its hardest difficulty.

You have to understand resources are limited in these games so it could be tough doing resource management for first time players, so play on Casual if you're a first time player.

Are there more resources on casual?

no

It's pretty easy on casual difficulty for me.

Resources are pretty same across the difficulties, but enemies are easier to kill in casual. You will waste more resources in harder difficulties

You will have no problem with hardcore. You can reduce the difficulty if you die many times during the game. Even if you're a beginner, if you want to enjoy the game more, we recommend Hardcore.

PS After all, hardcore is tough for beginners, so Standard is the way to go.

I started on Casual and it was too easy. Went back and raised it, and it's still easy. And I'm 83. Now I'd like to raise it again but I can figure out how to get to the setting for that.

I don't think you can raise it mid-game at all, only lower it. Unless you meant you restarted. You can choose between 3 difficulties. For VoS you need to beat the game first or pay $10.

I started at hard because that is what I do for most games, and I heard this game was not that difficult. Well I feel like I made a mistake because I dont have enough ammo as I dont know whhere you can run, or where you have to fight.
If one already know the game hard is probably the way to go, but I woulnd't say for a new player as myself. It is rather frustrating.
Still playing this long on hard, I should probably just continue it, but I regret not just having started on normal.

Village of Shadows is very much a NG+ difficulty. Its doable but a headache on a new game. Hardcore is a good experience and by mid game imo feels easy.

Casual is a very friendly and easy difficulty. You hardly take damage and everything dies fast, id only do a knife/speed run on casual.
