Game will not save
I saved my game on the first typewriter in the castle and quit the game. I come back to the game and my save file is gone and I have to restart. I died on my new playthrough and started me right at the beginning, asking me to adjust game settings like its the first time I launched it.

I then put my save file from Steam Cloud into the save location for RE8 and does nothing, back to the start. I feel like I am playing a game from 2000 where you need a memory card to save your game.

Has anyone had this problem or can someone help me with this issue.

My saves are there but at some point the game kept failing to save.
Happened to me too.
It refuses to even load the settings you saved.

I've had this happen to me today. I got to the last Lord and was about to fight him. Said something about a failed save so I was like okay....Managed to finish the boss fight and then continued onward to the endgame. Finished. Got the whole congrats thing of finishing. Unlocked Mercenaries then go back into the game all saves gone and it's treating it like I NEVER played the game.

Did you check file permissions on the savegame location? That's usually the cuplrit. Alternatively, force run the game as Administrator. Disable any "anti-virus" software for the time being.

Happened to me too when my game crashed. How to fix in my case:

1. Backup your save folder : C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\101414637\1196590
2. Backup your config.ini in your game install directory
3. rename/delete shader.cache (Optional: fixed my fps cap problem tho)
4. Restart steam
5. Startup the game and check if auto save works (go into setting and back out OR start a new game)
6. Replace back your 1196590 folder and config.ini - Done.

Download it from steam cloud if you don't have a backup:

I gave this a try too and it didn't work for me. I've reinstalled the game and tried to replace the save files with those in the cloud save. Nothing.
