Which weapons to upgrade?
Hold off on the Lemi for the 1911? I’m still at the castle. I upgraded my inventory and have just been buying recipes currently. Just not sure which weapons to prioritize upgrading. Other res games always had a pretty clear gun to be upgrading at all times but I feel better off holding off for now

Upgrade 1911.... That thing got me through the entire game once I upgraded it.

I didn't spend any money on starting guns myself, and there are some weapons with very expensive upgrades later on

Do not upgrade the Lemi nor the early shotgun. If you bought the Deluxe edition stick with the Samurai Edge for now. Investing on the M1911 and the 2nd shotgun are miles better.

This might be a spoiler but tbh you find a weapon part for Lemi very early that makes it better than Samurai Edge, wish we could upgrade it :(

I upgraded damage only when I felt like it.
Upgrade capacity only when your gun is empty so you get free ammo after upgrade.
When you get a new gun you can shoot the old one until it's empty and sell it

Yeah I sure the samurai edge to clear a dungeon basement and it was already overshadowed by the Lemi. It doesn’t even make sense that a compensator would increase pistol damage. I love 1911s but it doesn’t really make sense in the setting. The Lemi is basically cz rami so that makes sense. At least make the 1911 a browning high power.

What if we didn't buy the deluxe edition?

You can't even upgrade the AW-01 according to guides making it useless.

For the first playthrough the Lemi is fine. But if you didnt waste any money then the 1911 is probably the better choice overall. Dont double dip any weapon class.

Either shotgun though each is better at something. Dont bother with the one for sale later.

The sniper can stay vanilla if you are making headshots consistently

The true answer is the Wolfsbane. God I love that thing. Enough ammo to kill the bosses after it and then some. Excellent against Soldats too...One hit kills against mostly anything thats not a miniboss or a soldat.

What I did when starting on hardcore was upgrading the damage of the starter weapons but nothing else. Then when I got the better weapons, I'd sell the starter ones. Repeat.

And minor spoilers for the sniper rifle: You only get one so feel free to upgrade it.

Better is subjective.

The Shotguns all do different things for instance. Long range, slow trigger. Short range, fast trigger and in the middle for the last one.

Levi -slightly lower damage but quick trigger and decent mag.
M1911- slightly more powerful (less cost to upgrade overall), slower trigger and less mag.
V61 Cutom- still decent damage but full auto.

etc

I did my first playthrough on Hardcore and can't imagine using the Levi for the second half of the game. Even the M1911 stops being too useful against groups of basic enemies (lycans etc.) since it just takes so long to kill. The shotgun I probably could've stuck with since it was headshotting enemies in 1-2 hits regardless.

Unless you cheat or have those infinite ammo things unfortunately the pistols and shotgun are your bread and butter. Sniper in the factory due to increased bullet drops there and all that scrap.

I want to do a magnum only playthrough and feel like a badass. (that baby notwithstanding.)
