Not enough ammo for Lady Dimitrescu Boss fight, kind of upsetting (some spoilers)
Preordered the game, so I've been playing on Village of Shadows difficulty. I tried my damnedest to conserve ammo, going as far as spending 5 minutes just knifing one of the helmeted enemies to kill it. I was doing well with ammo, but it all started going down-hill when the first daughter showed up. By the time I killed the third daughter I was pretty much dry on ammo, then as I expected I fought Dimitriscu right afterwards. It gives you that stockpile of ammo, but I guess 7 direct sniper rounds to her weak spot, 4 shotgun rounds, and around 40 or so pistol rounds isn't enough (all my weapons are as maxed out as they can be at this point)? I just don't understand why it takes so much to kill her when it took so much to kill her daughters. I feel like it should give you just barely enough ammo before-hand to kill the boss but I had to craft 30 more pistol rounds.

I don't know how the game handles ammo and other drops in Village of Shadows. Because I played on normal and the place was filled with ammo.

Yes this is a major part of Re7/Re8

I was hoarding my ass off on VoS mode by that point and finished with about 30 pistol and 2 shotgun to spare. Dunno if headshotting her weakspot adds damage but that's what I was doing with the sniper most of the fight. The shotty helped out loads at the end.
Crafting ammunition in a RE game. Jesus Christ, what is this a Farcry game?

Gunpowder is basically "omni ammo" but you can choose what kind of ammo it is depending on the situation. If you just shoot normal enemies you can turn it into handgun, if you want more boss damage you can turn it into sniper or make bombs etc.

You have much patience. I don't. I went straight to WeMod. And it literally took over 100 shotgun blasts to kill one boss lol. Not to mention every enemy took 6 or more from shotgun to die just on standard difficulty. Is this even possible to beat normally?

This is why:

1) Play game on Normal to properly take it in, you’re gonna play it again anyway.
2) Unlock infinite ammo weapons, its always been a part of the franchise and still allows achievements. No, I don’t care about my ego or bragging rights enough not to use infinate ammo.
3) Purchase infinate ammo from the store with hard earnt CP
4) Play the game on Harder difficulties with less worry about ammo! You still have to worry about damage but it takes the stress off.

Yeah I loved RE7 and am loving RE8 so far, but I think I might have just soft-locked myself out of making any progression.

Dunno, I guess its not a good idea to play on village of shadows difficulty on your first run. Anyway, on hardcore it took around 15 sniper shots, 25 pistol shots and 10 shotgun shots.

A neat trick I found is to make use of the first fire you light, right before the area where you meet the first zombies. When they spawn run back to the fire and they will follow you. They will walk below the fire and burn, allowing you to save all your ammo.

They use the variable difficulty. So thge less damage you take and the more damage you do increases enemy health. So even on normal you can get regular enemies with 3x times normal health because the game sees you are doing exceptionally well and handicaps you to maintain a consistent experience. Generally the first few werewolves will be tough and then level out as the game balances around how much damage you are taking. You skipped that by cheating.

It's been in the series since 1999 lol, in RE3. Troll better.

VoS is not balanced for a NG playthrough. It's very obviously balanced for NG+ items and infinite ammo. The bosses are all stupid bullet sponges in VoS and playing this on a NG file is torture.

Yeah its pretty impossible on this mode. I beat the game twice aready on Hardcore so i decided to do VoS, I'm at the first encounter and it feels like impossible. Enemies move faster and do way more damage. I spent 30 hand gun rounds just to kill the first enemy in the game. Ridiculous. Definitely impossible with a controller it feels like

It's possible but not really enjoyable. A few people have done a VoS NG playthrough, but it's all very painful at the beginning. Like I said, it's very obviously balanced around having NG+ items and infinite ammo. Lady D boss takes something like 50+ sniper ammo and like 150+ handgun shots to kill, it's ridiculous. The fish guy is even worse.
