Windows 7 Support?
This discussion is clearly getting derailed for a simple question, leave if you got nothing constructive to say. There's is many reason why users such as myself are not upgrading to Windows 10 at the moment.

So this issue is likely a DirectX 12 problem or a missing or outdated dependencies which is only on WIndows 8.1 & 10.

Windows 7 can technically support it if the developers add it to the game since it's not on a OS level. For example, Ring of Elysium & Fortnite can support it for WIndows 7. Meaning I run Fortnite in DirectX 12 just fine.

If it's a XAudio issue, I've already got a solution for that as I've solved it for First Class Trouble with a help from a friend. However, that's unlikely since the game uses XAudio 2.7, not XAudio 2.8.

This guide by someone else might help you get you into the game or at least launch it.

Thank you for posting a tutorial.

I followed it, but I am going getting around 20 fps so the game is unplayable on minimum settings. I have a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 with the latest drivers. Am I screwed is hoping to play through windows 7?

What driver issues? Are you playing 1990 games? Are you on 480p monitor?
If he really wants to play RE Village, he should get Windows 10 or stay at Windows 7 and play older titles lmao. I have been playing a lot of games and i had no issues with older titles on Windows 10.

It can be played just fine on windows 7. Also yes many of us like to play old games from time to time and windows 10 support is lacking.

Windows 7 > windows 10.
Care to name some games that don't work on Windows 10? I have plenty of older games and they all work.

Anything Games For Windows Live related which still work such as GTA IV & EFLC or Flatout UC. The service is down to redeem games but if you're game already redeemed to your account you can still play online since the 360 server are still up.
You can get them to work with some workarounds. I recently helped a friend through the mess that is Operation Raccoon City which uses GFWL and I'm on win10.
So I don't see how that is somehow a big pro win7 argument when in reverse you have to do extra stuff to make these new games work.

You've said it yourself, it require a workaround which I'm trying to find myself atm. Point is, my hardware would hardly get any pro upgrading to the Windows 10 OS. I'll match rather wait until I get a new rig & put that on WIndows 10.

I've also tried upgrading to Windows 10 on my laptop & the performance dropped really bad mostly due to background task of Windows scanning & installing updates 24/7. While you could disable it, a friend of mine had the issue of WIndows forcing updates.

Next, there has been a few instance of Windows updates BSOD a PC & forcing a complete WIndows install & that's something I've heard from 2 different friends. Windows 10 forcing a ♥♥♥♥ ton of features I'll rather not have but can't remove without effort cause it's part of the core programs.

Point is, I'll rather deal with this on a new PC then try to bring all my ♥♥♥♥ over & hoping it would all work.

There is a mod for GTA 4 / EFLC that disables Windows Live and auto-save that works. On Steam they completely removed it and changed to Rockstar Games launcher.
Same with FlatOut you can download xlive and it works like charm. Also seriously, who the hell still plays FlatOut MP? It's an X360 generation game, we have now Xbox Series X/PS5 generation. If you really want to play a X360 generation game, buy X360 then, you can get X360 used for like $50 that works.

Just an example I can provide since I've heard them stories a while ago. That's all.

Clearly, you're just here to cause trouble for no reason & adding nothing to the discussion. The discussion isn't a demand of anything.
You are 100% right, you (one of 100) did not demand, but once you started claiming "what are you talking about, I nevber said other games with DX12 work fine on win7", you got my full attention (at least the one I can spare on a slow friday at work).

But there is one thign you're (again) wrong about:
I do add something to this discussion: showing you why you should not give a rats a$$ about which game with DX12 support still works on win7... Again: you're welcome =D

Where does one find a windows 10 key for 2 bucks at? On a pirated website? Someone selling already used keys on ebay? I have never seen windows 10 keys for 2 bucks.
On one any of the countless "this is not a shady key seller" site that the "defenders of windows ancient" regularly defend on this and other forums on steam.
Don't worry: I have win10 on 2 of my PC's running for years (second is for Ark server), bought from those "pirate websites" you have no clue about, but still assumed... ^^

I have windows 10 pro x64 also. I got it for free when i bought my brand new nice and shiny Asus crosshair VIII hero x570 motherboard for 100 bucks.

"A while ago" yeah. There is something called windows compatibility mode and it works on a lot of older games. You bought an Xbox S/PS4 - Xbox X/PS5 generation game, don't expect that the next Resident Evil game that will be only for Xbox X/PS5 game will work on Windows 7 lmao.

Not true:

Resident Evil Village Minimum System Requirements
Operating System: Windows 7 64 bit
Processor (CPU): Intel Core i3-560 or AMD Phenom II X4 805
Graphics Card (GPU): NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti or AMD Radeon R7 360X
System Memory (RAM): 4 GB RAM
Storage requirement: 40 GB free hard disk space
Video card with DirectX 11 support

Every new game that says "win 10 only" seem to have a block on them, and there's always been a simple file to add or delete: The Medium, Little Nightmares II, etc.
Literally copy and pasted a sys32 file that was already on my pc into the games folder and it would work.

That's obviously not from capcom itself. If you got it from other places, they made a mistake and as such, isn't capcom's fault.

The second link(dated Sep 20) that you gave in the other reply clearly indicated it was THEIR OWN GUESS(ie estimation) and NOT FROM CAPCOM:

Capcom has yet to confirm the minimum and recommended requirements for Resident Evil Village, and that’s understandable as we’re talking about a game that won’t arrive until 2021, but in this article we are going to share with you an estimate based on what we have seen in other new generation titles that will allow you to get an approximate idea of what we will need to move that game.

There are only a few links that claimed win 7 as a requirement and all of them obscure ones. None of the major publications indicated win 7 as a requirement. Heck, none of them actually published anything about requirements until they were officially known because they relied on actual sources rather than hearsay or guesses. One would think that major gaming news sites(ie eurogamer, ign, rps, gamespot, polygon, etc) would have published the same information if they were officially released by Capcom at that time yet none of them did,

I could just as well point out that most other sites indicated win 10 as well such as:

https://sea.pcmag.com/microsoft-xbox-360/43570/resident-evil-village-for-pc

https://gadgets.ndtv.com/games/features/resident-evil-village-release-date-review-pc-system-requirements-gameplay-vampire-lady-story-pre-order-2427742

Even third party retail sites like GMG indicate win 10 as well.

The steam store page has always stated win 10 since the requirements were made known.

I'm aware of Windows compatibility mode. However, it wasn't working at that time given what I've heard. I would imagine now this issue would be sorted given your post. "A while ago" being when Windows 10 was released. Even you got to admit it was a mess.

Your console statement makes little sense but using your logic, your PC is like an Android & your console is like a iPhone. One can be customised while the other one is restrictive. They all have their reasons such as security or flexibility.
Hi, I'm Ben! 7 mai. 2021 às 12:55
If you don't want to switch to Win 10 and already fiddling around with Vulcan wrappers, consider switching to Linux. At least you will receive security updates again ...
Wild Dog 7 mai. 2021 às 12:57
If your PC can run RE8 and you are still running Win 7, that's a mistake.
Don't like Windows 10? Switch to a Linux distro.

To answer your question:
There will be no official Windows 7 support.
