What makes enemies spawn in Mercenaries? Sometimes they don't show up.
Sometimes I can do a stage and kill everyone, other times nobody comes after me after a certain point and I have to clear the stage early to move on. Is there any way to ensure they all show up?

Village is easy. Castle and Factory sometimes they don't all show up. What am I doing wrong?

It seems going to certain locations trigger some enemies to spawn. Like in the castle I think, if you leave the castle early to go outside, you'll trigger some monster lots outside to spawn while some monsters you left in the castle will just remain there. Some seem to follow you, some just go back to their spawn points. Not even sure if kills affect spawning. x.x

Mercenaries in this game is wave based. Kill absolutely everything. If you don't and go to another area instead, there will be less or no spawns. Additionally, in castle maps there are blue birds that spawn that count towards your kill count. Nothing you can do to fix it if you miss them.

I can confirm not all enemies spawn everytime.

Yea, just did Mad village. First area. Couldn't get the 41st enemy to spawn.

Out of all people who answered me, this seems most accurate.

The problem though is that I can't be sure where I need to stand and when.

Let's discuss Castle 1, map 2. In the starting area there are a multitude of enemies. After you clear that, you can either go outside, or down the stairs towards where the mask statues are in the campaign.

And here's where I'm scratching my head, I'm not sure in which order I'm supposed to do Castle 1, map 2.

I'm too burned out to experiment but here's a hypothetical (I may have the correct order wrong, apologies if I have the correct order wrong):

starting room > mask statue room down the stairs > outside > ????? then here's where I am confused, there are still more inside. Sometimes they seem to come outside, other times I need to go inside to kill them. But I don't know where that last spawn is, is it the main lobby? Is it the starting room? Is it the mask room again? And what makes them come outside or not come outside?

It's incredibly frustrating because I've so far been unable to discern exactly what initiates the different waves to begin. And without knowing that, it doesn't matter what kind of score / momentum I have going on, because my score will be destroyed by dropping the combo.

I don't lack the skill to get SS on every map. However, I can't for the life of me figure out where I need to be, and when. It's incredibly frustrating and I've made very little progress since I unlocked Mercenaries.

patterns and routing

you have to route everything yourself, or look at how someone else does it

I like to grab all the ability orbs first. Then I start killing.

I have the same problem. This is why I can't even get A or S. At least in my case. Like what's the order to keep a combo? There's no guide out there and videos don't really help me since that's only someone else's experience and from what I noticed, this is what they do by luck.

Routing sounds like it assumes where I know where to go and when. But that's my exact question.

Specifically:
Where exactly do I need to be standing to initiate each wave, in every single individual stage, and after how many kills does each individual wave start, and where do I need to be standing in order to start the next wave?

These are critically important questions for the simple reason that you can have the skill of a potato, use autoaim with a controller, and get very decent scores if you know where you're supposed to be.

Contrast that with the being the best and fastest headshotter in the world but not knowing where to stand, and you will fail magnificently.

Yup. Mercenaries in RE8 is about knowing WHERE to be at the right time, much more than specific aiming skill. There are a multitude of strategies to compensate for not having the best or fastest aim, but there is no compensation whatsoever for not knowing where you need to stand and when you need to stand there. Perhaps a bit of an exaggeration, but you will get a 5 combo maximum if you do not know where you need to stand at any particular moment in time.

it is exactly that

you're going to have to do it multiple times to remember everything. thankfully, village took me only 2 runs to get SSS. Still working on castle (got an SS, but gonna try and go for SSS), and factory (b rank because it was my first run)

which is why routing and remembering patterns is important. when enemies stop coming out of the ground, or when it's nothing but music playing in the background, it's your cue to move your ass forward.

it's all about optimizing your runs, kills, and combo timer. you don't start in random set spawns like in the old mercenaries, you start in one place and only one place. that narrows down a ton of things. you have to decide what area you want to start clearing out first

in village, I decided that I want to clear out the area that goes to heisenberg, then the graveyard, then the 4 gates.

I already know that I need to know where to stand.

What I don't know is where to stand and when on each stage.

Hence the point of the thread. Asking people where to stand and when to stand there on each stage.

Telling me to find out where to stand and when to stand there on each stage doesn't help me when I'm asking people where I should stand and when I should stand there on each stage.

Let me be really clear: You're telling me to do something that I already know I need to do. Telling me what to do when I already know I need to do it is counterproductive.

You're not telling me HOW to do what I need to do to progress, even though I'm asking HOW to do it. In other words, I've been given no new information. I know I need to be somewhere at a certain time. You're just reiterating that.

I need to know where I need to be at a certain time. This thread wouldn't exist if I knew where to stand and when I need to stand there.

Your answer amounts to "just mess around until you figure it out".
My response to that is "I've been messing around and I haven't figured it out, hence the damn thread."

I told you what you need to do. Learn the enemy placements and decide which areas to clear out first.

Enemies don't spawn randomly. If you didn't notice that on your first few runs, then idk what to tell you.

I'm not telling you how to do everything because YOU have to figure it out yourself. It's not "just mess around until you figure it out". It's a learning process.

I even told you what I'd do on Village 1. Want every strat for every stage too?

My entire thread is based around myself and others needing to know where to be and when.

Your entire post is based around "just do what you need to do".

How the F do you not realize how stupid your response is and how jerkoff it is?

There is not one thing I can say that can make your post sound more dumb than it is. Your post is literally the most useless thing on planet earth. Just reading your post as a response to my post makes everyone realize how stupid the response is.

Me: "I don't know what I need to do, please help me"
You: "Do what you need to do"
The entire world: "What the H kind of answer is that?"
Useless and blocked.
