Does this run on Windows 7
I've seen a few threads saying you can force it to work with Windows 7, but it requires a lot of bs, and the hack comes with sacrifices to loading and videos. looking for feedback from Win 7 users.

NOTE: Anyone who feels the need to tell me to upgrade to Windows 10, because it's better, let me just say f--k off now and get it out of the way.

Thank you.

well, you apparently already are aware of how to make it work on windows 7, that bs as you put it is necessary to get a game to work on an OS that is no longer supported.

it’s not available for Windows 7 as a separate install.

They ported specific portions of DX12 in the past that were needed for WoW in cooperation with Blizzard. It is more or less, baked into the game itself.

It would appear that CDPR has struck a similar deal also.

Windows 7 lost full support in January 2020 so its highly unlikely they will port it again for any upcoming or current games in the future.

Yet they made a hack to allow ryzen gen 3 cpu's run on windows 7 but can't get direct x 12 to run on windows 7.

yet that doesn't prove anything.

if there was a way then they would've found out by now. dx12 has been out since 2015.

II'm just saying if they can one thing work they can make the other work also just people are to lazy to do it. Don't bother me none since i use windows 10 pro x64 using highly modified system dll's. Which stops me from updating my os cause if i do i have to put in another 8 hours worth of work to modify the system files again.

you'd probably need to completely reverse engineer win7/dx12 to make it work.

If I get desperate enough to play DX12 only games I'll just pirate a version of Windows 10 and run it virtually from within Windows 7. No big deal. I can't stomach that horrible interface full time, but I could probably live with it on occasion to run specific games. For the moment there are still tons of Windows 7 games left to play. ]

Regarding reverse engineering Windows 7 for DX12... It really wouldn't require much effort at all.

It's only free as an upgrade. I have no intention of overriding my Windows 7 with Windows 10.

it's a free upgrade and you can make it look / feel like windows 7.

To make Windows 10 look and feel like Windows 7, you will have to do the following:

Change the Windows 10 Start Menu to look like Windows 7
Make Windows 10 Explorer look like Windows 7 Explorer
Customize the color scheme of Windows Title Bars to look like Windows 7
Remove Cortana Box & Task View from the Taskbar
Turn Off the Action Center
Switch to local account instead of Microsoft Account
Add shortcut to Classic Personalization Windows for quick access
Change the Desktop Background & Icons to Windows 7.
