Ethan's Left Hand

All things considered why does his left hand never heal? Everything else that gets damaged heals back to full. I know the in game reason for his healing ability.

But I have never seen a reason why his left hand doesn't have this applied to it.

well, he never got his fingers back from the Lycan to reattach them with. his hand was able to be re attached because he picks it back up after being cut off.

I assume that, unlike his other hand, and both his hand and leg in RE7, he doesn't actually have the fingers to just put them right back together with the first aid med, considering they got chomped off. Likely combined with the fact that he isn't quite fully aware of his regeneration abilities, at least not to any extreme extent or thinking he is the source anyways.

Its not an actual stated reasoning though, but about the best I could figure, considering its the one time he doesn't piece himself back together, and it just boils down to himself not having the fingers to piece back together. We're not even fully sure if he rebuilt his own heart, or if he just managed to push through without it at the end despite his body "falling apart" as the Duke mentioned, and him being on deaths door for good like Miranda continually reminded him during their fight together.

everything else with his body regens, seems odd that lopped bits don't regen unless they are re-attached.

That's real easy to disable him, cut off his hands and feet. healing ability is useless at that point.

It might be because he beleived he is a human. The other parts he can regrow without breaking his delusion because he gets them back and he has the healing juice. Would be difficult for him to ignore half his hand growing back.

the bones of his hand merged back together and healed in under half an hour. Unless ethan is delusional, even the most basic person should know bones don't work like that.

Those hooks were not just going through muscle and skin they cleft solid bone.

But I guess fingers regrowing are something even he would notice.

It might not have actually. Someone pointed out that the EKG status bar in this game doesn't actually register a heartbeat unlike every other game. It's most likely a little foreshadowing for the twist but could also mean Ethan can function without a heart. Especially once he knew he was a fungus monster.

He doesn't need a heart to live. That's the point.. he ain't really alive. He is a reanimated corpse.

He can't grow back parts.. that's why his left fingers never come back.

Strictly speaking he shouldn't be a reanimated corpse, he should be in "stage 3" like Miranda, the Lords and the Bakers were where his ability to maintain his shape is dependant on his self image.

As such he would be able to grow them back if he believed he could.
