I had far more fun with 5 and 6 than I ever had with 7.(7 also had a far inferior combat than both 5 snd 6)
In social enviroments, It's very common to see dominant ideas and other opinions. Resident Evil 5 and 6 being bad games, is one of that dominant opinions.
My man, do not ever try to follow this ideas or opinions just to fit in the social group. There are many people in this community, myself included, that think Resident Evil 5 and 6 were objectively good games. It may be just a few of us, but we are part of that community. Screw the mayority that follow these dominant opinions just to fit in.
Being a good game is far more important than being a "good RE game".
Anyone that enjoyed Resident Evil 4 has no reason to complain about Resident Evil 5 because it took everything that was introduced and excelled it to the extreme. Specifically by Resident Evil 6 they went all out but this predecessor is where it REALLY shined visually and mechanically. Also, it gave us more fresh air that was clearly overdue after the first trilogy began peaking the series.
Whoever hated the second trilogy, citing them as "terrible Resident Evil games", not only completely misunderstood the whole point of their existence but why the series was already dying by 1999. The only true saving grace was Code: Veronica but even then the whole series was becoming overplayed and outdated to its literal death. Not even the Gun Survivor and Outbreak spin-offs were doing huge favors.
RE5 is an acceptable sequel despite its shortcomings with storytelling and potential.
