Game feels...unfinished
Anyone else have this feeling?I mean, besides the fact that is only 6-8 hours long for a 60 euros game, the moreau and beneviento sections are so short you can play them both in about 1 hour or so.It looks like they rushed the development.

*Also notice how they put almost all the weight of the story in the last 30 min-1 hour of the game, instead of slowly revealing it through notes and cutscenes scattered around the game. It's like capcom is telling players ''you shoot the hell out of everything in this game, then you will have some 45 min of unexpected (and ridiculous) plot twists at the very end of the game so that you cannot say that the game doesn't have any story''.

You were probably hyped for years for Bio Mutant and like that flop.

Yes.Moreau, for example,is just 20-30 min of just walking+the boss fight. Wtf?

there is obvious cut content in the game. The first demo showed the villagers active in the village, it was supposed to be alive and thriving, not the dead scene you find when you arrive. Further proof is the fleshed out characters at Luiza's house, only to die off by elena's dad. Speaking of her, she just stand there waiting to fall. the village was supposed to be a hub you helped/defended at times, not just another linear zone you sometimes walk through. Rumors and leaks also mentioned mermen enemy types at moreau, Donna and Angie was supposed to be way longer, with a giant Angie you had to avoid squashing you as you hallucinated being tiny and so on.

All in all I like the game a lot, but covid most likely saw a lot of cut content that they had to rush through the game in the end so cut it all out.

This. I wanna see some source for this, but I do totally believe you.

The reason why I think there are cut content is because:

+ The thing you said with Luizas house and all the characters there

+ That the devs hinted there being a connection between the village and Umbrella and emphasized this a lot during their PR. Then when we get the game all it was was that Miranda and Marcus met eachother long time ago...

+ There being so very little of Miranda and her screentime and yet she is the main antagonist. It's too weird.

+ Dmitrescus castle being so short even though they showed off this the most. I don't think they intended that too be a "devious" PR-trick where they make us look at one thing and rest of the game is the other lords, I think they just screwed up.

+ There is a weird line when you fight Dmitrescu that is like "we won't let you have Rose! We need her to survive!" and I think that is a line from an old story-line where maybe the 4 lords actually got together and tried to fight Miranda.

+ Duke saying that Moreu is not the only thing that swims in those waters definitely fits the merman leaks.

I mean, they can still add most stuff via DLC... I wouldn't mind paying if it made the mainstoryline-game have more content instead of a seperate mission with some other character.

this rly gonna happen every time a new RE comes out? "games rushed", "games unfinished", "games too short" lol

No, git gud.

It's not unfinished at all. It's following the established RE formula. RE games don't rely on length. They're all pretty short with mostly absent stories until the end. They're meant to be replayed. The main part of the games rely on the gameplay and atmosphere. It's never fully clear what's going on and you discover a lot of it from notes picked up throughout the game world.

For me personally, it's not the length that makes me think it was a bit unfinished, but it's more the fact that we got stuff like 4 really well-designed lords, but they all have bare minimum story and there is never any satisfying explanations to who they were, why they have different abilities etc other than "lol Cadou gives different powers". Even the main enemies the lycans I don't really get why Miranda chose that shape for them...

First playthrough took me over 11 hours, unless you are intent to just rush through the game at your first playthrough you get your money's worth. Beyond of course that there's more to do after the first time beating it.

Are you braindamaged? I went in blind and cleared about 99% if the game in less than 9 hours.

And for the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ arguing the game isn't unfinished, the devs themselves state that they had to cut A LOT due to negative internal feedback when they had less than a year to release....

after doll encounter the rest of the game was super underwhelming. even the first castle was just mediocre. the whole game was just meh and i regret wasting so much money and time on it.

Well, not really.I think one of the main reasons for which people do replays is because they want to see if they can find anything else enjoyable in a game that costs much but gives little on the first playthrough. The problem is,in my case, that I discovered the game didn't give much more than shooting(just a few psychological survival horror here and there). There is also a difference between being short physicaly(8 hours) and FEELING short.I think one can complete RE7 in under 10 hours, but like the story, the tension etc and feel like it is a good game worth 60 euros whereas after finishing RE8 you can't remember anything else than long shooting sections and some shallow, ridiculous story(and the amazing graphics,of course). Not survival horror

Yup, after completing RE7 you're likely to remember the distinct approach and experience fondly. RE8 is too common, ordinary, shallow... too safe. It's fun though and I got it since I have every RE game ever released.

PC version is pretty much broken though.

By that Logic, RE 1 original is also unfinished.
1.It was supposed to have coop mode that was cut.
2.Reloading was supposed to be real time which this idea was also cut.
3.It was supposed to have a cemetry section that was cut.
4.It was supposed to have more underwater monsters that were cut.

All these "game is unfinished" arguements are illogical.(Only the buggy games are really unfinished)
Greb May 31, 2021 @ 1:14am
It just feels like it needed an extra year of polish. Some areas are too small, and too limited in how the player can approach them. Some of the mechanics could have been vastly improved and provide a richer game experience, like making the guns not be a straight and boring logical upgrade path and instead having them all have various strengths and weaknesses, situationally. Stuff like that.

I don't recall coming across anything that really stood out in RE8 at all. If anything, it felt like they were trying too hard in some sections, actually.
