Some makes less sense than others.
Some makes the head cannon worse (I'm looking at you RE2R which made it impossible to find a canon scenario for Leon/Claire and the bond they have on other games weird since they do the same things on each campaign and never interact with each other at all, but even so each of their segments have elements that happened no matter what), some makes you wanna vomit.
People say since RE4 the story makes less and less sense, but actually the story never made much Sense, Capcom didn't actually spend too much time trying to write a story that makes sense.
Every single mistake of Chris on this game is weird, dumb and stupid on all the levels, for example. There's a lot of plot holes if you start looking at the game with more technicallity. XD
So yeah, don't mind it. Enjoy it and try to make the best out of it.
Or suffer with us, forever.
I'm still crying over RE3R.
I mean that's unfortunate.
To be honest the last time I played a Resident Evil was the original 3 games.
Those stories made sense as a whole. Umbrella experimenting with pathogens and stuff to create a bio weapon of sorts, and it breaks out.
The next 2 games after rthat RE 2, and 3 are really the aftermath of that. So it all just works and falls in line.
I'd think they would of done a better job than this writing though and at least making the base core of the games story make sense through and through, even if the over all arc doesn't make sense.
4. I assume the gender of the host was of no real importance to Miranda since throughout the game she shows she herself can change forms at will, perhaps she assumed her megamycete infused child would be able to do the same.
6. She sent a portion of her research on the mold to the criminal organization that eventually created Eveline. We know Eveline infected the Bakers as well as Mia. We also know that Lucas Baker was in contact with this organization so it's not unreasonable that what he told them made its way back to Miranda and she became aware of Mia's existence and probably kept tabs on her. Having survived the mold encounter perhaps made her a person of interest. Now how she and Ethan just happened to end up in the same country as Miranda out of every other possible location on earth is just some plot convenience on another level altogether.
I forgot that connection she had. That does make some sense, though how she just happened to know this baby was "The one" is still a problem.
I can hazard a guess, but it is only just that. Remember after Ethan gets knocked out at the beginning of the game? He has a flashback where a doctor calls him to discuss Rose's test results. My guess is that when Miranda swapped places with Mia she could have gotten a hold of that information. We're not exactly sure how long she had been impersonating Mia which makes things kinda murky. Still though it could explain why she knows things about Rose if she had been studying her during the impersonation.
That's another very good point I didn't think about. There are test results you can find in the house as well.
#3 isn't exactly right. There is a journal that explains why Dimitrescu was immortal. It was due to an inefficiency she had, which is why she needs to drink blood, but it also made her immortal if she does.
I would imagine that is as close to perfect as you'll find, and all she needed to do was find others with that same problem (Forgot what it was).
The location shenanigans can be kind of explained.
Chris is trying to protect the Winters family personally, because they are unfortunately far too entwined in the issue to simply allow to a regular security detail. Chris is also tracking down Miranda, on the assumption that she doesn't know about the family and their survival. However, he also knows that Rose would be Miranda's target.
It all comes down to making sure he can keep tabs on everything as part of his job. So, moving the Winters to a local area he can respond to quickly makes the most sense. It, unfortunately, also gave Miranda the opportunity to infiltrate the Winters home.
The experiments were done to find someone strong enough for the ritual to work. The lycans and other monsters were people who were too weak. They either died or mutated horribly and were just left aside.
She didn't have the means. She needed someone exceptionally strong to survive being 'merged with the Mutamycete', like Rose, who is 100% mold and special in lots of ways.
The gender doesn't matter, she just needed a 'being' of extreme power to withstand the ritual.
She had to find out how strong Rose was, so she 'killed' her / split her into pieces and then had to see if she could be revived.
"I had to test your new vessel's regenerative abilities.
I took her apart and revived her in the Megamycete
regulator, the Giant's Chalice."
- Miranda's Diary
In that game Leon and Claire(Whom were rookies) could defeat Birkin while the highly trained Umbrella special forces couldn't even defeat his weakest form.
This is a pretty good answer post other than saying Rose is 100% Mold because I don't think she is.
I believe that what makes Rose special and the perfect vessel in Miranda's eyes is the fact that all the experiments done with infusing people with the mold failed in some form of way and I believe that is because it's not a natural connection.
This differs from Rose who I believe is 100% human but has all the powers that Miranda is seeking because she was not an experiment on a pre existing person, she was naturally born with her abilities.
And before you say "How can she be 100% Human if Ethan is a mold person"
Well my answer is that it's because like Mia said multiple times in the game, he is special and I believe the reason he is special is that his mold powers are the fact that he has slight regeneration abilities hence why he can re attach his hand but can't grow his fingers back but I think another ability of his is the fact that he still produces Human DNA as shown by him bleeding normal blood when attacked and when Lady D drinks his blood as she would more than likely know that it's not human.
Basically what I'm trying to say is that yes, Ethan is a mold person, but his mold powers aren't something crazy like being able to throw metal around, turn into a giant fish, control plants, or get really big and can grow his nails like claws. His powers are that he's just a dude who can take a beating.
Essentially he could be considered the perfect Mold BIO weapon since he has no defect and is essentially human and can survive tons of ♥♥♥♥ other than having his heart ripped out.
Also another thing that shows that Rose isn't a mold person is the fact that she doesn't die at the end of RE8 since they destroyed the source of the mold.
