Best weapon for hard difficulty
Hello I have a question, I completed my first playthrough. Now I want to play again with increasing difficulty but with infinite ammo weapons. Now the question is I have 102k CP and there are three weapons I'm considering using, I don't know which one is good.
-Dragoon
-WCX
-Wolfsbane
By the way, I have another question here. Some people say that there is a bug with parts of WCX and it doesn't show up in the Duke's store. I don't to waste CP so what's your opinions?

Wolfsbane is an excellent choice, but for starters I'd say Dragoon because it packs a serious punch, no upgrades are required for it in order to unlock infinite ammo, and Chris will also thank you for that.

Yea, the dragoon will help out both Ethan and Chris. Than when you want to move up to VoS difficulty you should have enough for stake.

I had no issues with any weapon or parts unlocking from the Duke.

Here is a list of weapon stats someone made on reddit if you want to look.

WCX is far better than the dragoon. Since dragoon isn't upgradable. I vote for the wolfsbane. It is the best weapon in the game if we look at the whole package.. economics etc. Without unlimited ammo cheat for the stake you probably wont use it much while the wolfsbane uses sniper bullets and kicks ass.

I read the topic. In general, most people wrote this. Play VoS with Dragoon and then end of the game I'll have enough CP for stake. I didn't realize that staker was powerful. I think it seems unnecessary to buy wcx right now. Correct me If I'm wrong, I won't be able to use that gun(with infinite ammo) even if I buy it now, I can't get full upgrade for my WCX in second playthrough. Because full upgrade options only unlock before the final boss. So If I want to infinite ammo WCX I have to finish game one more time and It'll be ready in my third playthrough.

I played VoS with the STAKE. While also having dragoon for chris. Made his part so much easier with both having infinite ammo of course. The STAKE is great and made VoS a breeze.

Just a note. If at duke for final upgrades. You can sell everything to have a lot of lei and only keep the gun you want to upgrade for infinite ammo. This way you can buy all the parts for the gun and upgrade it. Do not save the game and go to the extras shop and you will now be able to unlock it if you have enough CP. Obviously make a save before you do this to go back in with all your stuff you previously had and now with infinite ammo.

Mercanaries is fun too and will also help unlock CP before choosing to play VoS if you do not have enough.

Yeah today I played Mercanaries mod and now I have 260k CP. I think I'm ready for VoS. I will try as you say. Firstly I'll buy infinite ammo Lemi(ıt's cheap 10k cp) for the first horde in village. Then I can get dragoon when I go to duke. After finish the second playthrough I guess I can buy STAKE. If I still have some CP as you said, I will also get the wcx at the last save point before the boss and update It for infinite ammo.

Yea, that should be enough. I didnt bother with the lemi as enemies can be sponges on higher difficulties. The STAKE is just so powerful you really dont need anything else. But it is also fun with an automatic and just holding down the trigger! :steamhappy:

You have three options for an efficient route.

1. If you are simply stepping up to hard from something lower and then doing VoS only after this hard run (aka your 2nd run) then Dragoon is the most efficient option. Anything beyond that is unnecessary for hard and it helps both Chris and MC. This lets you go straight for Stake by the time you reach your VoS run.

2. Wolfsbane (quite potent with infinite ammo) or WCX. Both options are amazing, though I'd argue both are also wasteful in various ways. Both can definitely work on VoS as well, but there is simply a superior alternative if doing that, aka Stake. In addition, Wolfsbane while being good has a few caveats. If you upgraded it very heavily in your first game run then it is the obvious winner and save rest for Stake. If you spent money on upgrading other weapons and possibly even saved a good amount of it to carry over into NG+ you may have not upgraded Wolfsbane leading you to the poor man's OP weapon route WCX. WCX is quite amazing and can trounce VoS very effectively, not to even mention hard. In addition, Stake would be the next unlock and simply replaces Wolfsbane which mutes flexibility in contrast to at least keeping WCX if you struggle with lots of mobs (you shouldn't in this game, you really... really... should not when you have infinite stake not to mention explosives). In addition, even if you can't immediately get infinite ammo for Wolfsbane it gets plenty of a common ammo type to carry you along effectively until you can.

3. The best route is actually just going from (assuming first run was normal as you are talking about doing hard next) is if you were rather thorough in that first run on normal skipping hard and going straight into VoS to buy Stake as soon as you reach merchant. You will not be able to 100% upgrade it but with your prior normal run's upgraded weapons and carry over ammo you should easily rolf stomp everything early on including the attack segment in the village until you can finish maxing out Stake (probably before finishing if not early into the Castle segment, and you will probably have plenty of magnum ammo to abuse the already immediately heavily upgraded Stake). Proceed to sell weapons as necessary and buy Stake ammo upgrades as the final type of upgrade for it to further abuse it until infinite ammo and rofl stop the game with absolutely no effort because the Stake is brain dead levels of broken.

First of all, thank you very much for the explanation. I realized something yesterday, although everyone knows it, I didn't. When we started the new game, when we selected the last saved file (it says completed), we could start with the weapons left from the previous game. I was starting as a new game directly from the menu. This why I said at the beginning i want to buy Lemi.

I completed the first game on normal difficulty and now playing VoS. I am doing what you said in the first option. Dragoon is pretty strong right now, I'm moving forward easily.I hope can save enough CP for STAKE after that playthrough. My question is, can I get STAKE from the duke's shop before the final boss and do all the upgrades from there at once? So the update pieces aren't scattered throughout the game, right?

Ps. : Sorry for my bad english, It's not my main language.

The Dragoon was a good choice :)
As far as I know you can purchase the Stake as soon as you unlocked it with CP. But you will need 300k Lei for it (the Duke is greedy) and also money for the parts and upgrades. The parts are all sold by the Duke.
Xengre Aug 1, 2021 @ 8:24am
Right, I can reinforce as Sera said in that you can buy the Stake in full the moment you unlock it. That said, it is very pricey to fully upgrade but it gets a ton of ammo so just it, alone, can actually get you through several entire zones just off purely its ammo upgrade and 1-shot potential as long as dmg is maxed ASAP. Eventually, due to the price you might have already guessed this but you are going to sell pretty much every weapons to fully upgrade this early on in this VoS run, else you will see it take much longer during the run but probably can still unlock infinite ammo at some point in that run. Also, in addition to the ammo it gets (because it holds a ton of ammo per clip) it can also penetrate multiple targets making it even more absurdly ammo efficient.

I appreciate for help :) I tried to buy and upgrade STAKE but my Lei doesn't enough for that. I was only able to purchase weapon parts and complete the power of the weapon. My Lei was not enough to update the remaining stats. I hope I have collected enough Lei for the remaining stats when the game is over.

Assuming you are thorough it shouldn't be an issue assuming you are selling some of your existing weapons as there is no need to hold onto them as you upgrade the STAKE now that you have the dragoon (eventually you wont need any weapon except the STAKE).
