RE8 running significantly worse for seemingly no reason.

Is anyone else having performance issues that were nonexistant when the game released?

RE8 used to run 100% smoothly on my pc, hardly ever dropping below 60 fps during even the most intense scenes with the graphics settings cranked fairly high, but I launched the game for the first time in about a month or so yesterday and it was like the game went from an ethan-sized runload to a burden the size of the Duke for my pc, which I can't really think of any explanation for. Now even tweaking the settings down a fair bit and sacrificing a lot of visual quality, the game struggles to exceed 30 fps, and never even touches 60 anymore. What the hell happened? is there any way to reverse it?

edit: I figure it might not hurt to post my PC specs in case that matters at all, so here:

Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070
Processor: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 12-Core Processor 3.70 GHz
RAM: 32 GB
Memory: roughly 3 TB

Did you do any updates to the system, OS or driver related? New programs or background tasks running? Disable AV for gaming?

Check to see what windows updates may have been done and if GE updated your display driver automatically try using DDU and install latest driver.

If its nothing with software I would look into H/W. Check fans and ensure system is being cooled efficiently. Any dust accumulating, etc.

I've had a peculiar issue with all of the RE Engine games where if I alt+Tab out enough in game that happens and it doesn't work until I restart my computer. Worth a try if you haven't done so in a while.

Also, check for new drivers, if you just installed new drivers, try rolling back to an earlier version.

As AP mentioned, it could be hardware related, but you should be seeing it in more than one game if that were the issue.

I have stutter only in RE8. I tried Doom Eternal, DAYS GONE, Bioshock, BF 4, they all run buttersmooth.
