Report a translation problem
To clarify a few details, were you attempting to play Movie Night mode, whereby you take it in turns to play different characters? Was your friend definitely invited to play *with* you, as opposed to *as* you, as the latter would mean they could only play if you surrendered control to your friend?
Any screenshots or video clips you have showing what your friend was seeing versus what you were seeing would be helpful to try and understand this issue better and provide additional troubleshooting recommendations and advice.

That's very possible - if you do get the chance to test the game again with each of your systems' graphics drivers updated, please let me know if it works as expected for you now.
I cannot do much more to address issues with Remote Play itself unfortunately, as this is a Steam feature and not a game feature, but if there are any other questions or concerns that I can help to address then don't hesitate to let me know.
