An Exclamation Mark on the Hand, means you didn't Unpack a box, or didn't Buy something.
An Exclamation Mark on the Scrub-brush has two meanings as well. Stains & Windows.
Also use the Tab key to see if there's any Quest's for that room. A green check-mark indicates what's been done.
It helps to have a plan of action, and make a habit of following it for every job. Being that you start outside, it's best for me to do all outside tasks first.
Here's my order of doing things:
1) Sell all items first to expose other items (don't forget to look at the ceiling).
2) Pick up all Trash to expose Stains, and hard to find Sell Items.
3) Vacuum, Clean Stains & Windows.
4) Paint/Tile/Wallpaper walls (if required).
5) Do Flooring (if required).
6) Buy Items (if required)
7) Unpack Boxes (if required).
#6 & 7 are Always last for me. Don't forget to sell all Unused Paint, Tiles, Wallpaper & Flooring. That's wasted money.
To help me keep track of what rooms I've completed, I typically leave the door open, and lights on. I don't do this unless I'm absolutely sure I've completed the room.
Sometimes Strains & Trash can be hidden. You might have to move an object to Expose another.
Make sure to check out the pinned post with the link to the roadmap and feedback categories to vote for and/or add things you'd like to see in the game. This is one of the things already listed there.
1. Open every door you see. If no work needs to be done in a room, or if you successfully complete all tasks in a room, leave, but Don't close the door. This way, if a door is closed, you'll know you haven't checked the room yet!
2. Read the email carefully, before starting the order. If there is a loft or basement in the house, it will be mentioned.
3. The order of tasks Shadow has outlined is actually the most efficient. Furniture often hides stains and trash underneath or behind it.
4. Kitchen worktops, coffee tables and dining tables often have a lot of trash on them. There is also a standalone perk you can get, which increases your trash-collecting radius.
5. When entering a room, note where the stains are. In all outdoor areas and in some properties, the stains are only on the floor/ground/tables + worktops; in some properties, they are also on the walls and doors; and in others, they are on all surfaces, including ceilings. So you should have an idea of where to look before using Flipper Sense.
6. Because of how inefficient Flipper Sense is (sometimes even highlighting stuff in the neighbouring area), you should only use it to find the last one or two bits of dirt/trash, in a room that's as empty as possible (i.e after selling old furniture but before you buy new things or unpack boxes).
which means do that after you empty the room of trash and before you fill it again.
