Where is grandma sleeping?

I'm going with, the sofa is probably a pullout bed or she just sleeps on the bed. She explains in her email/letter that she can't go upstairs anymore, so it makes sense.

That downstairs sofa is large enough to sleep on for one person, especially if it's one of those "click-clack" sofa beds, where the back tilts back to make a flat bed. Also, the grandson probably came to visit her for a few weeks, and she will be able to use his room when he leaves. There's no evidence he's moving in permanently, especially without his parents - judging by the books, he's only about 6 or 7.

There's no sign of granddad's belongings anywhere, so poor grandma has probably been widowed for years...
