What is a point of "Likes"?
Game just gives my thousands of the for roads. I know they are fake, it is automatically given because somebody just pass by. It's not like they take time to press "5" on my stuff.

Can i use "likes" for something? "Likes" form bunkers at least gives me new technologies.

IMO i also think these likes are useless, aside from making you feel like you helped someone, would be nice if there were rare gears you could obtain with those likes, it would also incentivate people to actually put the time to build stuff for like, as of now most people just use your roads and stuff and never bother to like.

Euphoria. Look up studies involved with how social media “likes” affects the brain. The game is basically an addiction.

I think it does impact how many assets you see from other players, and how likely they are to see your assets in general. The latter can feel very important when you're working your butt off to climb a difficult spot to place a zip line at a perfect location. It's not just for you - the hope is that others will find it as useful as you do.

It can feel good to see an asset you placed getting likes, though it's less a matter of basking in the euphoria of approval (though maybe it is for some people), and more that you're getting feedback that tells you that what you made was useful to others.

Increasing your Bridge Link ( amount of likes ) increases the amount of strand contracts you can make, increases the amount of upgrade requests you can make, increases time you have to give manual likes and increases synchronization with other players.

You receive it because of the appreciation. For example of this is that if you were struggling to go up a cliff or a mountain or struggling to get through the rivers, and other porters (us players) managed to get through all that by placing a bridge, a ladder, a zip line, dropping power aid legs and so on, it's to help other players in need. So leaving a bunch of likes on what they have left for other players so that it'll be easier for them to travel, liking what what done like adding a ladder across a river so you can get through easier without losing your stamina and cargo. It makes them know that you used it and lets them know that they helped in some sort of way to make your experience earlier. That is what likes are for, to appreciate every porter and what others have done to make it easier for your experience to travel.

It's just like real life. People think they are a validation of your effort :)

Quite genius psychology in this game

I think this is why I wasted 30 hours of my life on a walking simulator lol

Anyone who placed a building I used got maximum likes from me. Yes. i would stop for a full 7 seconds and hammer the like button like i was trying to save Meril in MGS

Lol if you think this is a walking simulator, you should try Horizon Zero Dawn.

It's really is a walking simulator, the most you do is walking, but I'm not saying that this is bad. Also, the game is tagged as a walking simulator at steam store lol

"Experience the joys of carrying a heavy load up near-vertical surfaces while dodging thieves, ghosts, and a barrage of phone calls from strange people with stranger ideas. Center your towering load and head for the horizon in this thrilling new walking simulator from the makers of Boktai, Penguin Adventure, and PT. You'll travel through sunshine, rain, rain, and more rain as you see America through the eyes of a disgruntled baby-carrying deliveryman. Ever wanted to fling your own urine and feces a people and things you don't like? Now you can!"

kojima thinks he's being really clever and meta by including social media tropes in his games.
