TIP: Repair Your Truck Without Having to Transfer Cargo Around
So your fully loaded truck is almost destroyed and needs repair. Typically it involves storing it in the garage, retrieving it, and then reloading all the cargo from the private locker.

Easier way to accomplish this is when your truck is on the elevator (safehouses included), rather than store the vehicle, simply change the color scheme. It goes down into the shop, gets a new paint job and returns to surface 100% repaired, full battery, and all your cargo still inside.

Edit: Also a great way to charge up the battery if there's no generator nearby.

I recorded a footage for a much older thread for the trick. Another important note is that you can only change colours for the vehicles that you own, except for the Half-Life Truck and the Cyberpunk Trike since you can't change those and of the vehicles owned by others.

it has been around since the beggining, this is no glitch whatsoever, just because nobody came up with this before, doesn't mean it's a glitch

It is a nice feature, though. I don’t think I ever tried it since by the time I get to a city I’m usually unloading my cargo. And if I had a multi stop journey, I’d just fix the truck in the end. The trucks are pretty sturdy. Only time you need to really worry is through the snowstorms.

Except it is a glitch...by definition. I suggest you read up on what that means before you start pushing your judgement.

It's a feature of the game, not a glitch. You're basically respawning the same vehicle with a different colour.

Nah. You almost never need to worry about condition of vehicles. Neither Timefall nor Snow-Timefall can reduce vehicles below 9%. They will just stay at 9% forever. Trikes, Mule Trucks, Bridges Trucks they all stop deteriorating after reaching 9%. They still can be destroyed if you crash them in a way that does damage or get shot at by terrorists, but weather never destroys vehicles. The only time I care about condition of my truck is when I make high-speed entry into terrorist town to grab cargo they stole. Doing that with beaten up truck is unadvisable, let's call it.

A feature that they didn't intend to work that way - otherwise what's the point in storing your truck and pulling it back out again?

Tomato Tomoto - don't really matter much.
I spend way too much time in IT listening to people claim "its a feature" when it really isn't.

Perhaps they should just remove the ability to change vehicle colours when you're selecting 'garage' at the safe house / distro center terminal, but only accessible when you're in the private room so it wouldn't be called a glitch then.

Or vehicle durability and battery shouldn't be allowed to be restored, only allowed to change is the vehicle colour.

Or nothing...its not that big of a deal.
Who knows - they may change it on remastering the game. Or nothing.

Its a thing....there are bigger fish to fry as they say.

The game technically doesn't have a "Repair" prompt that you could click on. It's 'traditionally' done by "Storing" and then "Retrieving" and, if you have multiple Cargo in the vehicle, you have to access the Private Locker and multi-select them to place them back in.

Players have found a way to skip those steps and is simply a convenience and doesn't take the experience away whatsoever.

You are asking for logic in a game where you can't put a passenger in a truck.... Don't embarrass yourself.

You are objectively wrong. Since Sam's backpack rides in passenger seat, any people, or bodies, that Sam is carrying do ride in passenger seat whenever you take the truck.
