Box of Resin and Metal?

So I am 5 hours into the game. I just acquired a box of resin and metal I read that you use it to upgrade structures and to craft items, right? but do I have to actively carry them on me continually? what can I do with them?

I would take them to a terminal somewhere and recycle them in - when you want to build something like a bridge, or upgrade something, you'll go back to the terminal and "Claim Materials" to pull them back out - then, you'll have to carry them to whatever you're building. It's worth noting that a lot of bases will already have some amount of resources stored for you, so if you need 400 metal, you can pull some/all of that from a terminal.

Nope, just recycle them at nearby base and when you want to upgrade a structure you take it with you. But generally you don't need to carry it.

Metal is great for upgrading a wide range of structures but you do need to carry it with you (best done with a vehicle). I have yet to find a structure that requires resin so that is best to recycle IMO. Lots of Metal and Ceramics are needed for roads if you want to build them.

The best way is to recycle them at any terminal (they are added to the resources of this terminal only!). You can craft items only with those added resources. If you want to build roads or upgrade something you need to go to terminals, take the resources out that you need and carry them to the location.

Stow any resources you find right now through recycling and when you are able to carry more things with you (in a vehicle or otherwise) you'll be in a good position to go load it up and build a lot of things at once, it'll make your midgame a lot funner as you'll be completing deliveries with better ratings and getting more stars (Really good after port knot city as facilities after that point give you upgrades and new items to use for maxing their stars) :)

What do you mean by recycle? I've gone to both bases and postboxes and dont see any recycle option to offload these.

Resource management is pretty subpar and tedious in this game, they should've made those drones to go to your structures and repair them at some cost at least. Maintaining the world after game completition is not fun at all, since there are hundreds of structures decaying quite fast.
