You aren't missing anything. If anything, take going on an easier difficulty as a sort of gradual introduction into the world and its mechanics. At this point you should probably know the ins and out of most of all the systems and can tackle a harder difficulty much more easily than if you started out that way
Later on with regular deliveries you can select to either do them normally or select a higher grade for that specific delivery.
When you choose a Standard Order and are about to accept it, you can choose Standard Delivery or Premium Delivery. It should be on the left-most tab of the Order Details menu. It gives you stricter guidelines for orders (instead of 40 min, you get 20; instead of 50% damage, you're limited to 20%, etc). The more Premium Orders you do, basically the more clout you get and people will think you're like a master.
It basicly tells others that you're a realy good deliveriesman and your routes/buildings might be good
- Normal = Legend (L)
- Hard = Legend of Legends (LL)
- Very Hard = Legend of Legend of Legends (LLL)
You'll see how many premium orders someone has completed with a legend rank next to their name, denoted by one two or three golden L's respectively. The only thing this affects though is two achievements, one requing at least Normal difficulty while the other requires at least hard. You don't get anything for getting the highest rank on Very Hard other then bragging rights I suppose.
The very hard difficulty was added with the PC release and currently isn't present in the PS4 version, hence why there's nothing tied to it.
If they are noticeably more difficult than on the other difficulties I can't even imagine how easy they must be on normal/hard. I've been finding myself really wanting for more in terms of the combat in the game because I actually have a lot of fun doing it but I wish the enemies were stronger or there were more to gain from combat. You can knock out one of the fully armored terrorists on Very Hard with the level 3 non-lethal assault rifle in something like only 6 headshots. To take down a whole camp you don't even need to bring more than one weapon it seems like.
