What exactly is the gameplay like?
Nearly an hour on and off searching for a straight answer but I could never find one.

It's difficult to describe the gameplay without being overly reductive, but suffice it to say that if you're looking for something like CoD or GTA, this isn't it.

it straight up isn't useful. it's easy to make any game look bad if you're playing like a moron like trying to climb a mountain with a bike or barehanded instead of using proper tools introduced in the beginning of the game/going a different path
Dunkey's videos are 90% jokes, if you use him for real reviews, you've gone to the wrong guy.

Yea no problem you made that decsison if you going to buy the game after you already bought it and trying to con others into buying it.

(ps: mouse icon shows you already bought it)

Bought it after posting this thread, but I am still unsure and might refund it before the maximum playtime ends.

its dna gene expression. establish the primary structure of dna (sam mechanics). let parts of that structure bind together to create a secondary bonded structure (connecting cities). that structure then bonds to another structure of a separate strand to create a tertiary structure (your game bonds with an online userbase).i play the game on very hard difficulty which i consider rather challenging, frustrating, and stressful- the acid rain occurs randomly and often, which makes me restart missions a lot. completing orders though, certainly does feel rewarding. i can only handle this game in bursts as the stress it creates is real and exhausting. in my opinion, it's worth every mile. straight through.

But the core gameplay really is just walking right?
I was hoping at least something building on top of stuff like MudRunner but I fail to see anything that makes me think the gameplay isn't just the same walking mechanic from MGS5 but with even less going on storywise and the mandatory package delivery added on top of that.

At the moment I think the game is way too much of a gamble with how expensive it is, I'll either wait for it to get cracked or to be at least 75% cheaper.

It's just walking in the same way that ATS is just driving or CoD is just shooting people.

From the 4 hours ive done, yes a lot is walking, but its a bit more than that, you plot the best routes to get to where you wanna go, build structures to help you and other players reach new destinations, and avoid BT's in a very tense manner. Yeah, it is mainly walking, but the story is pretty fun to slowly understand, and at least for me, you slip into a very zen rhythm of gameplay and delivering. If you think you'll like it, you will.

The difficulty of missions increases as you go along. Later on you have to cross snowy mountains which is really difficult without special equipment. Hip deep snow makes you walk very slowly and you can't always see rocks that you might trip over, and the cold saps your stamina which can be hard to recover. A lot of times there's Timefall snow so if you try to rest without shelter, your packages will get ruined, so you have to balance between time and stamina. Sam can also get frostbite or even freeze to death if you sleep out there.

yeah, this is one of those games where you just have to try it out for yourself. i didn't buy this game expecting to enjoy doing billions of fetch quests but here i am, hooked on doing just that.

to bad it becomes dull near the mid where you can just fight everyone and not hide or have to walk anymore

you also need to decide what orders to take on, and what orders to leave behind. and while you're on an order, you'll encounter dropped cargo which potentially reroutes your entire thought process.

stamina maintenance is significant. not like other games where you don't ever fatigue.

it really teaches you not to throw the baby out with the bath water.

... oh wait, i realize now its about how my girlfriend wanted me to treat and think about her more often.

actually NO, it's not walking in it's core!
I thought the same because so many dudes blindly hating on it and making bad videos but i thought "just give it a try, nowadays you can't trust any reviews anymore".
Well, it's good i did it.... having a blast.
The game has a realy deep story, walking is a realy minor part, you get your first vehicly (a motorcycle) very early, etc.... core gameplay is sneaking through GD's without losing or destroying important wares (or later kill them with grenades if you got enough on you) and build stuff for easier travelling like bridges, roads (both for vehicles), ladders and ropes (both for routes to avoid GD's) etc.
Your goal is to rebuild the infrastructure so all the last cities of humanity can survive in this world that suffers from death stranding..... then you use this infrastructure to deliver wares (as many as you can in one go) mostly with vehicles!
And you even have some bossfights, just like in every kojima game.

And if you want a lot of more fun just start the game in the hardest difficulty like i did, so traveling through GD's and such is more of a challange (on normal it's just too easy)

You carry huge piles of crap from place to place. You trip over every rock higher than 2 inches and face plant. A baby floating in a gallon of beer strapped to your chest screams in your ear every time you fall. You punch guys in the face and steal back the stuff they stole from you. You can't kill anybody because corpses explode with the force of a 50 megaton nuke. Why? Because reasons. You listen to endless truly horrible monologues from NPC's. People you never see except as holograms demand you deliver pointless items to other holograms living in bunkers. They complain while never setting foot outside their safe space while you do all the work. Trying to cross streams that are more than a foot deep is liable to get you swept away while the baby wails in your ear, again. You spend hours collecting crafting materials so you can build highways that help you travel without falling on your face a lot, and allow you to ride your electric tricycle and carry more junk. But you have to do a lot of walking before you get the plans for the trike so you can build your own. Then you have to worry about the battery running out before you get to the next charge station. Then there are maniac terrorists that want to destroy everything before all the cities are connected again. They don't seem to know you can't stop the signal. I'm only on Chapter 3 and I'm already wanting to join the terrorists. A few cans of Monster energy drink (shameless product placement) and Gordon Freeman's glasses are not enough pay for this courier job. Oh, and you get to eat fat caterpillars to replace blood loss, make grenades out of extracts of your urine and feces (grenade #1 and #2) and basically do whatever weird crap Kojima dreamed of after two much sake and a batch of bad sushi.

Why would you thank a 0-level user with no icon that keeps spamming the same videos over and over in every thread? This "123" person apparently either has some sort of personal vendetta against the game, or is being paid to flood the forums with negative video links...they have nothing useful to contribute to the discussion.
