So how the hell are you supposed to soothe BB properly without motion controls?
As much as I despise motion controls, it worked very well for soothing BB on the PS4. Using an Xbone controller on PC now, trying to soothe BB with the left stick, and only being able to "rock" upwards, doesn't make much sense to me. I try moving the stick slowly, and nothing happens. I move it a bit faster and suddenly it's too fast and I'm violently shaking the baby. Push up, stop, let go, stop, repeat, just does exactly that, Sam will rock the baby for like half a second, then stop when you stop. It doesn't make any sense. Anyone know the trick to this?

Try going in a 180 from left to right, seems to work ok, but also doesnt seem right. Might try native ds4 though, if that activates gyro and stuff. I can never get vibration working on anything even with that though, maybe a setting I toggled on steam. ;/

There is a option to enable motion control, I just press it up every second or two, you can see it working by looking at the bottom left where it shows the baby "happy" meter.

press W slowly, once per second. BB will fall asleep very quickly.

Why not just use your DS4 controller?

i use a 360 stick and it works fine. i actually never used motion controls on the ps4 since i find it janky.

i don't know if it is a setting on your controller sensitively or not, but natively mine is fine.

Xbone controller doesn't have motion controls

Wired controller is annoying, and I like the compatibility of Xbone controllers. They just work with every game without anything extra.

You can connect your DS4 via bluetooth though. Plus Steam supports them natively. (if you have conttroller support turned on through Big Picture)

Not saying that you can't use a DS4 with bluetooth, cause you can, but certain DS4 specific features don't work. On bluetooth the computer sees it as an xinput device and no more. If you want the DS4's touchpad, touchpad buttons, motion gyro, and light, then you either need to use a microUSB or buy the PlayStation's discontinued USB dongle

Except that I've been using fully functioning DS4 via bluetooth for the longest time now. Any bluetooth dongle works, even PCI-e ones. It's fully customizable on steam controller settings, even motion sensor and lights.

Bluetooth. With what? My Mobo does not have bluetooth and I'm not buying yet another dongle for a controller. I have my Xbone controller and it works fine. No customization needed, it just works. On (shudder) Microsoft store games too, if need be.

Any cheap bluetooth dongle works. I use ASUS USB-BT400 myself. The customization is optional since steam does have default presets for it already.
Zaku Jul 15, 2020 @ 11:13pm
does the motion control on ds4 even work on steam?
I genuinely dont know. Ill give it a whirl tomorrow I suppose.

Or I can just use my Xbone controller which works perfectly fine.

I don't understand how it's SUPPOSED to work, but its fine for me:

XBONE controller (wireless)
I move L-Stick in a circle at a moderate pace, BB is rocked smoothly.

I think you're supposed to move in a half-circle from Left to Up to Right but I haven't bothered trying to figure it out precisely, just do a circle at a normal pace w/o going crazy it should b fine
