Another tip is if you don't want to fight, drive your bike carefully and look at the Oradek, too. It will point out where the BTs are, or, you just boost up and drive pass them. When the BTs detect you, they will reveal themselves, so you can see where they are and dodge them. A bit of practice will do.
Vehicles are not a precious resource in this game. They're something you can just use, then abandon when they run out of batteries or can't cross the terrain.
You can also boost into the area to save time, the game will automatically stop your bike when there's danger.
And anyway, sinking then escaping is easy, even later in the game. It is beneficial though to dump all items by holding triangle so they don't get damaged when you are caught.
