should we re-install director's cut?

I'm re-downloading this game to buy director's cut. is there need to download director's version again?

most likely yes, as director cut is a new game, we just needed to install the base game to have the upgrade option on store-page be available for us

I still don't get why it needs the full install just to purchase a discount, but $10 is better than purchasing it all over again. Maybe it will upgrade the original install with only the newer files it needs and will only have to install the whole game again if you uninstall after purchasing the upgrade.

nah, they said the discount won't appear on store-page unless you have the game installed, weird as it is, that's what they said, but it's a full reinstall after purchasing the new game with the discount

To receive the upgrade for DEATH STRANDING DIRECTOR'S CUT you must be logged in with the same account you purchased DEATH STRANDING with and already have it installed on your PC. When you go through to purchase the game from the PC storefront, you will be presented with the upgrade price. If you do not have DEATH STRANDING installed then you will be presented with the full price.

Will DEATH STRANDING DIRECTOR’S CUT be treated like a new game on Steam?

DEATH STRANDING DIRECTOR'S CUT will not overwrite DEATH STRANDING, but please be sure that if you are upgrading your save files from DEATH STRANDING to Director's Cut, you will not be able to continue playing with the save file on DEATH STRANDING.

I'm not going to reinstall this until the directors cut comes out and we know for sure it is required for the discount. But I am fine with not playing as soon as it comes out.

Not ragging on you, but that is so ridiculous... they're separate games...and you can use your original save to import into the DC version...but once you do you can never use it again on the standard version? Shouldn't they have their own saves then if the games are their own?

It is just such a strange thing. But it might be true. Skunkape Games is releasing remasters of the old Telltale Sam and Max games, Season 1 gave a discount for owners of the original but for season 2 they said steam no longer allows them to do that so they came up with a round about way to let people get a discount by offering a discounted bundle that would only make you pay for the season you didn't own.

I don't know why steam would remove that function from steam but I am all for devs finding ways around it when they can.

if you have DS updated to 1.07 you have the option to export your save file for DS Director cut
