Climbing Rope resets?
I made a climbing rope for the purpose of going up, but everytime i come back to it, its coiled up at the top, so i have to run the long way around to throw it down, why?

When you reach the top of your climb, make sure your back is to the cliff side when releasing the rope as Sam throws the rope behind him. Unfortunately, if another player uses your rope and doesn't do this it will be at the top when you return.

well, is a rope going to the elder, where I had to climb up the hard way to make the rope, so from what i can tell the only way down, at least for me is this rope, its been at least 2 times its done this, and I have log in turned off, because i want to experience the game campaign the way the 1st players on day 1 experienced it.

It seems like the rope position is randomized when you leave the area and come back. Best bet is to use ladders for a route up and ropes as a route down.

I always put down 2 anchors to lower the risk of this happening.
I've never had both be coiled at the top at any time.

I noticed that too. After climbing up, I make sure that I have droped down rope properly, for other persons or myself after revisiting area. On very rare ocasion I have found rope in exact position as I have left it. It seems that map distance have nothing with it, but how fast you have returned there. (If you travel with vehicle far away and return back quickly, for example).

I'm certain that other peoples were using it, even if I didn't get many likes on it, because of laid down path that leads to rope. After scaning area I can see a lot of other people footsteps going same way as I did.

Unfortunately, it seems that not many people care about others, not paying attention to properly drop down rope after climbing.

other people using your rope doesn't affect its state in your world, nor does people using your bike, your truck, your anything; the most agency other players have regarding your structures is the ability to repair and upgrade them, or remove them from their world, and their world alone for everything that manifests in another player's world is a copy
that guide is nothing more than superstition and hearsay

ropes - as physics-enabled structures - just sometimes get funky when they are loaded in, despite your best efforts to ensure the rope is thrown back over the face of the cliff
nothing more, nothing less

This is true.
How do I know ... because I played the game Offline (no other player structures, no building/material/repair help, no signs, no "other player" help/connection at all) and climbing ropes still did that.

Sorry to rez an old thread, but the issue is not other people. I thought this too until I loaded my game today and noticed six ropes I placed all pointing north. That's what's happening. When the ropes load into the game, they lay toward the north making many ropes inaccessible.
