Partial Delivery?

Okay, early in, after not playing for a few months. I have delivered to Waystation West of Capitol Knot City, and put their network online. Good. I am carrying a few items for Capitol Knot City. I WANT TO DELIVERY THEM TO CAPITOL KNOT CITY.

So I leave without taking orders from Waystation West, because there's a trail of items along the path back to Capitol Knot City, both on the trail and in a Post Box near the city, and I'm just taking my time, and I want to rack up some points and get them delivered.

So just a bit down the hill I find a package for Waystation, and I figure I'll just turn around and deliver THAT ONE PACKAGE back to Waystation West, and then head back to the City.

Upon opening the menu, I select that one package. Good. Then it puts me in a menu where I can, or can refuse, to deliver the OTHER STUFF, the stuff that goes to Capitol Knot City... So, of course, I very distinctly down-arrowed down to the BIG RED AREA where it says "DON'T DO ANYTHING." Cool. So as directed I hold down the (A) button.

AND IT DOES THE EXACT OPPOSITE OF WHAT I TOLD IT TO DO, and delivers all the items in my entire inventory, instead of what it said on the option I very specifically chose, "Don't do anything."

How do I only deliver the one item, and keep the rest on me, and why does the "Don't do anything" option actually, um, not do that? I remember having this problem a few months ago too. All I want is to deliver the item FOR THAT ADDRESS, so I can deliver the other items myself TO THE OTHER ADDRESS. But no matter what I try, it just seems to do what it wants, instead of what I selected.

On the page where you select or refuse to deliver the other stuff, you need to move the cargo you don't want delivered to the bottom half of this screen (the "Don't Do Anything" section).

You do this by clicking on it and selecting "Don't Entrust". You can also select multiple pieces of cargo by holding down X and d-pad down the list. A check mark will appear in the box to the left of all items you have selected to keep in your possession. Move to any of the selected items, hit A and you'll get "Don't Entrust" prompt, hit A again and all the cargo you want to keep should then move to the bottom of the screen into the "Don't Do Anything" section.

Cargo that's going to be delivered will stay in the top half of the screen. Then hold down A to "Confirm".

I didn't know that the Don't Do Anything part of the screen was a section you had to move things to -- I just thought it was a general command.

This is a minor annoyance in the delivery system. I accidentally completed a delivery that was only partially fulfilled, and quite often drop off packages that I wasn't intending to as it wasn't the final destination. I'm at a similar stage in the game so I guess I'll get used to it.

Some of the game mechanics are indeed thoroughly counter-intuitive. Some simply inaccessible. I do pride myself of a PhD in sciences, but how to add materials to a tower in attempting to level it up, I have not been able to determine left to my own devices.

You're not alone, I think everyone has done this when starting out, would have been a lot easier if the default was to keep everything rather than entrust it. That way if you make a mistake you can at least get a do-over.
