Oxygen mask Glitch

So i have this game on my PS4 and I have been playing ALOT and enjoying it for every second but when I got to the paleontologist and got the oxygen mask to go through the vog Sam would not put on the mask I mean I could equip it but it wouldn't appear visually I first I thought it was a visual bug and continued along my merry way but then when i got to the vog i died. so i'm wondering is this a common glitch, or is it just me, and if it is common how did other people fix it?

Edit : this problem has been solved so no need for any one else to attempt to solve it

Might sound like a stupid question but after selecting the mask on the equipment wheel, are you then selecting "wear"?
Not familiar with the PS4 controllers but on XBox controller you equip the mask and then hit "A" to wear it or "B" to drop it.

You could also try putting it on by opening the cargo menu, select the mask from your cargo and then select "Put on Mask" to see if that works.

@Bubba Yes i tried it and in the cargo menu it shows sam wearing the oxygen mask but he doesn't wear it outside the menu.

Edit: btw on ps4 A is replaced with X, and B with O.

I never even used the mask.

I used the sticky gun to pick up the items I needed.

I've been trying to replicate the problem and the only time I get the same results where it shows Sam donning the mask in the cargo menu but not outside the menu is when Sam's battery is dead. So, another stupid question......got juice in the battery?

Edit: actually yeah the person said "it runs on battery and if it didn't i'd tell you to wear it all the time" and I remember moving slower around there so maybe my all-terrain suit died.
