I hear they love this game.
Just some advice.
you're still in the tutorial area of the game, the distance you have to go for each order is super small so the shortest route takes you through very little risks, meaning you'll usually always have enough stamina to get through any conflict that comes up
you're really not seeing a lot of the game right now, it's trying to teach you the basics in a safe environment
the next region, where you spend most of the game, is a lot more crazy with the level design, it'll be a lot more punishing, and you'll learn what you're doing wrong faster because of it, and once you understand what you're doing wrong, it'll stop feeling like "brute force"
for the BTs, you're just getting caught, you need to be more quiet before getting close to pass them, and look at your odradek (scanner on your shoulder) to see how close one is
I agree with you on one point, though : the "hold breath" system is useless.
And the stats system gives you bonuses everytime you get 10 points in a category (such as the ability to carry more weight).
Also, once you get to Port Knot City, You will travel to a bigger and much more interesting map.
That being said, the core gameplay willl always be to take packages from point A and deliver them to point B while fighting or avoiding the threats on the way.
What makes it worse is the fact the designer felt the need to insult everyone that pointed out how bad the game was.

Saw that video before and is still the most misleading 'review' ever. His gameplay mostly consists of him deliberately making himself fall off cliffs and driving vehicles in places where nobody with a right mind would, just to push his points across.
Remember your delivery of that corpse to the incinerator, where you found Igor's equipment helping you along the way? That's what you should do for other players. That's how you enjoy the game more, by realising that everything you do in this game can make life easier for someone else. If you play the game only for yourself, you will most likely never enjoy it, because that's not its purpose. The whole point of the game is about connecting players in a positive and constructive way.
I suspect the main reason so many people hate on this game is precisely because they haven't understood this.
I did it by not buying it.
