Traveling in the Mountains Late Game
I'm at the point where you have to deliver to Heartman, Palentologist, EvoDevo, and Geologist in the mountains. From what I have read, the only way to move around is with a network of zip lines. Is that right?

Sometimes I see vehicles in the mountains from other players. How do they even get them up there?

Use Zip lines only if you need them. The mountains can be traversed by walking, trucks, trikes etc.

Players drive vehicles up the many paths, or build Safe Houses where you can recycle materials to create vehicles. :dsfist:

Do safe houses have garages and do they allow you to build vehicles?
If so, I am only finding this out now. I tried parking a car in a safe house and it wouldn't let me.
The safe house I am talking about is that one that is created by a PCC.

1. they have garages
2. you can build vehicles
3. if the garage is full, you will not be able to park your vehicle. :dscheer:

I have to try that again then.
Maybe it's because it was an online player's safe house and not mine.
Maybe too that I was trying to park a vehicle of another online player into the safe house of a different online player.

Safe House ownership is non-issue.
You can park any vehicle in any Safe House.

The problem is that it was full. To solve:
1. Bring up a vehicle.
2. Delete it
3. Move the vehicle you want to park onto the Safe House.
4. Park it.
:dsheart:
1. if you still cannot park, delete another vehicle until you can.

You can drive southeast with a truck from Mountain Knot to Heartmans lake, and from there southwest to Evo-Devo and Geologist. The lake is actually shallow and all looks. From Evo-devo you can drive to the Paleo.
I've also managed to drive a full truck from the Timefall Farm to the Geologist. But that one is painful.
Safe houses can help but are not required to pull this off.
I used to go the timefall farmer, veteran porter, geologist, paleo and evo devo route, from there can go to heartman if have something for him or back the same way.

To the north used truck to the mountaineer from there on foot or zip lines later to the spiritualist and first prepper.

Until they are on the chiral network you can't see zip lines from other players.

If you're careful you can drive a truck just about anywhere, just takes patience and using your scanner frequently. I've made it a sport to see just how many "crazy" places and routes I could bring a truck. So far the hardest for me was getting a truck to the elder from the engineer side of the mountain, that took a little work. Tecnique also helps a lot.

People have found routes in the mountains to take vehicles up there more easily, from there they are recharged with generators and repaired with safe houses, I'm pretty sure you can't build vehicles at safe houses.
You should build zip lines if you don't enjoy hiking through the mountains, there are also faster ways to move around on foot, like creating paths and running over the rocks rather than the snow.

I only built 1 zip line in the mountains, and that was to the doctor. I was able to get to everyplace else either by bike or truck. I always planned my routes before taking actual cargo, though. And there are heavy BT areas you will discover which you will also find ways around.

It's certainly a lot safer and quicker to get around, once you have a set of zip lines in place. You don't have to build all of them either, just place them where you can incorporate those already placed by others.

I did that, and it allows me to go from one place to another in that area in less than 2 minutes, door to door. Super easy to 5⭑ all of them.
