Voidout crater
I've been looking up online if craters are permanent and found lots of conflicting information. Most of it however said that they are temporary, so when I finally got one I didn't reload an earlier save file and decided to leave it so I can see what happens. IRL it's been several months now, ingame... I honestly don't know how to tell, so if anyone has any info on how to know the time and date ingame please do share.

Not sure - I'm trying avoid leaving any behind as it tends to mess things up. I am curious however. (Been hunting Boss BT's for chrial resources)

The craters are I think a very novel way for the player to literally impact your game terrain so drastically. Your game arc story in holes. But they are not fun to make, LOL.
Climb up a nearby hill and look into one...

They are temporary. No idea how long they are supposed to last.

I had two that happened a couple of days apart and they both disappeared around the same time another couple of days later.

That is interesting because a crater I made was permanent. And if I got caught in that area again and died, it was game over.

I wasn't going to say anything b/c I'm not sure, but that was my impression as well. The only crater I've made is still there from the first hour or two of the game. Maybe if you make a lot of them they are only temporary, LOL...

Again conflicting information. It is a very interesting mechanic and I like it, but having a crater in that spot permanently is really annoying in so many aspects. I really do hope we come up on a concrete answer soon

Well, that's what playing an RPG is all about (tho this is relatively light in rpg mechanics...), meaning, living with your choices and what happens in the game. There is no "annoying aspects in so many ways" you just roll with it and play the cards dealt to you by the fates of the game and (nothing personal) your own ineptitude that caused the crater.

make that hole part of your story arc! Own the hole! :)

Well, that's what playing an RPG is all about (tho this is relatively light in rpg mechanics...), meaning, living with your choices and what happens in the game. There is no "annoying aspects in so many ways" you just roll with it and play the cards dealt to you by the fates of the game and (nothing personal) your own ineptitude that caused the crater.

Wasn't really from my own ineptitude, the game is easy even on the hardest setting and I've still never caused a voidout out of carelessness. I do enjoy the VFX and the crater afterwards for a short amount of time, then I just rollback using my save, I wanted to leave this one just to test how long it'd stay for because there's no consensus online.

DS has multiple ways to get to a location. Don’t think of it as an annoyance but as a reminder of the need to get around the next BTs.

I hate these pile-ups of comments that are off-topic, out of the 10 comments so far, only three are on-topic. The question was very simple, are the craters permanent. I don't care about the story, anyone's gameplay skills, or traveling from point to point. Are the craters permanent, yes or no and why. Focus lads.

I mean I've seen FAR WORSE off topic derailments here....
But to aid you - I don't have an answer.

1: I don't like getting voided out - even tho the extra materials that show up and connections made with other players (would like to hear an explanation on that)
2: Craters showing up tend to alter landscape and make this more troublesome.

Now If I had to make an educated guess based on game thus far?

Craters are permanent....they don't go away.
Reasoning - what would be the point? Consequences to your actions and all that would be trivial.

Can I prove that? No....and likely won't be able too due to my play style.
That being - If i voidout? I reload game and try again. :P

Good point.

Normal is my current setting.

Perhaps hard or higher leaves things more permanently?
Thing is - your able to adjust that on the fly soooo not much point there.
