Actions pull you out of it.
Makes sense, really. Need the spatial awareness. And being able to see weight shifting in what you're carrying would be harder to convey in first person.
And yes, there's a photo mode. F8 by default.
Well ok...since you asked...I'm trying to Frankenstein a scene together for an epic guitar-solo taking place near a bleak-looking running waterfall in a music video I'm working on! A little cheesy, yes, but the nature of my vision for the video is appropriately so.
