My bike drowned
I lost my bike in deep water trying to outrun BTs. I miss it. I can't find it. Am I screwed until I progress further and can make one?

Sadly, I think so.

Yea you can't get the bike back until you progress further, but by that point you'll find that vehicles are extremely expendable.

I am pretty screwed. BT's are hammering me and I have a huge load to haul a long distance. It's the one to Port Knot City, right after you first get hematic grenades.

That's going to be tough to do on your bike, but I found it easy to crouch walk and hold breath to stealth past the BTs. In general, it's a waste of time fighting them if you don't have to.

It seems like when they first give you hematic grenades, and you head to Port Knot City, that it's scripted to use grenades on the BTs for a bit. Maybe i can load an old save. I love that damn bike.

You'll get more vehicles soon, just keep on keeping on on foot!

You never need to use hematic grenades. If you get caught by the standard BTs and dragged into a fight, you can just run away from that fight, and it'll be a while before the BTs return.

As Rechordian said, you never really NEED to use the nades. In fact the game will give you innumerable utilities, gadgets weapons and vehicles but you can actually do 99% of the game without using any of them. It's all very much up to you.

I'd say forget the bike. I know it seems valuable now, but soon you'll be getting annoyed with the amount of vehicles littering the roads and landscape.

As for BT's, I only fight them when I need crystals. Otherwise I'll just slap on some sandalweed on my feet and just crouch walk between them. Just pay attention to the odradek, that tells you what direction the closest BT is and how close it is to you.

OP, why not role play the game and roll with the loss? Make it part of your game story/experience? Sounds like an interesting encounter.

Good point, remember at the beginning of the game Sam lost his bike. Rather than go back and get another, he just continued on foot.

I had problems with BTs at first too, but then I stopped actively using the Odradek and started using it passively. I mean, instead of sending the pulse to "see" the BTs, I just used the Odradek's sound, spinning speed and direction.
The first thing you have to look at is the direction the Odradek is facing. Remember it always faces the nearest BT, so you should never move forward that direction. Try to turn in a way you always make the Odradek face a side or your back, but never go forward if the Odradek is facing to your front.
Then you have the light and spining speed. When first detected, you can just keep walking, at least as long as the Odradek spins "slowly". When you get close enough, Odradek's spin will be faster and at that point you should crouch. If at some point the light turns yellow and the spin speed is even faster, then you should hold your breath and keep walking until the light turns blue again. Of course, you should always keep moving, walking away from the nearest BT, in other words walking away from the direction the Odradek is facing.
At least up to chapter 3 it's been working for me in normal difficulty, I don't know if it would work in harder difficulties or later chapters.

Thanks everyone. So If I'm burning around on a bike, and BTs are detected - will the bike stop working or slow way down making it a hindrance? Or can I cruise past/through them to avoid them?

If a BT catch you while you are on a bike it going to trigger the typical slowdown (the circle of tar with people trying to trip you over), at that time you can have to decide if to get down of your bike or just power it through the tar with the bike boost (unless you are on hard/very hard and if you stay on your bike on the tar you going to trigger a boss battle no matter what).

What I did on that part was to use the bike trying to avoid BT's but I failed horrible to do so triggering 2 boss battles... but don't worry, if you escape the boss battle the BT's will not show for a short period of time so use that as a time to escape and go pass the BT area.

No, you're not screwed. It sucks, but keep going. You'll be able to get another one later down the road and it makes deliveries go a lot quicker

The bike will stop briefly while the game slows down to let you know there are BTs ahead, but it's still usable through that area.
It just halts its momentum while the flashy thing on your shoulder activates.

You can't see the BTs unless you're standing still / crouching, and not holding your breath, so you'll be driving through without any idea of exactly where the BTs *are* within that region.
