Linux + Proton 5.13-2 = massive memory leak
Hello, after proton 5.13-2 update Death Stranding shaders compilation process brings down the entire system very quickly, filling RAM and swap. It happens even if you are not playing but have allowed background shaders compilation in the settings. If it happens you have only a few seconds to go into settings and disable background shaders compilation. Hope this can get fixed soon.
Cheers.

Hey there, I'm sorry if I'm too late with this response:

It appears to just be the first time you run it - let it freeze your pc and go for a shower or something. Once it's done it once it seems to be okay. I get your frustration but it's not so much a freeze as it is an unthrottled process. It really is working and if you just let it do it's thing your computer will eventually come back I promise.

Hi Crystal, I am aware how shaders compilation works, but Death Stranding triggers a bug that isn't normal part of the process.
For anyone bumping into this bug deleting the following folder fixes it now:
~/.steam/steam/steamapps/shadercache/1190460/

Just let the compilation run again and all should be fine.

Ah I apologise! I just wanted to say that in case you were thinking it was permanently broken. I actually thought that, I thought that it was never going to work since it just broke my computer every time (I still don't know how to handle things when my ram is full other than force shutting my PC down). But I just let it do it's thing and it eventually ran, which was unexpected for me.

Unfortunately it was really laggy FPS wise and just wasn't a fun time and had to refund. I play at 1440p and it was probably the worst FPS I've seen since trying to play Skyrim on a Macbook back in 2013 lmao
