You can use/build a watchtower before entering mule turf to flag them all and do a headcount as well to help with planning.
You can take MULE's item when you knock them during the slow motion, so you can use it as a weapon. To throw or to swing, pick your poison.

One shoot and they kiss the ground, don't mind the ones struggling concentrate on those who are still up make sure to shoot all of them so you knock them all out, can't never be too safe

In close combat you can hold both your hands and bump onto so they lose balance and give you chance to counterattack or run. Or straight up parry their melee attacks, if you equip rope and get it ready. Or you can equip used things from wheel menu in your hand and do additional damage in melee or just throw it for range attack or distract or fool them if you are not in combat yet. They also pretty slow in water, so if you jump with speed skeleton across river you will have them exposed in water.
