Spoiler: What to do with sixth cube?

It seems like the two emails are giving you two choices, either throw it in the tar or incinerate it. Every walkthrough I've found just talks about incinerating it. Has anyone tried throwing it in the tar to see if it has a different result?

I threw it in the tar in my game, but nothing happened even after waiting a while, going back to my private room, etc. As far as I'm aware doing it just wastes the cube.

Sorry you had to be the one to test it out! Incinerating it just gives you a Half-Life Stryder hologram for your structures, not a great reward.

I was done with the game by that point (I five-starred all of the settlements and such before I ended the game), so it wasn't a huge deal for me anyways. I figured I was curious enough that it was worth giving it a try, so at least now we know! I love how in-depth they went with the cube quest line anyways, especially with how useful some things like the gravity gloves are.

I was hoping that when you threw the cube in the tar that you would get to fight the Strider. It would be cool as hell to fight that thing after it rose out of the tar for a sweet boss fight.

The emails did give the impression that if you threw it in the tar it would be transported to GLaDOS and she would complete her experiments, possibly even physically creating a Stryder. Sort of a letdown how it actually ended.

yes i agree you should be able to use the "tar" for it, but after doing that i dont see any mail or event and no way to get it back from tar ?

I too just fell for this false choice. I guess I'll reload. Do "tarred" mission items ever respawn anywhere?
