Game Won't Download (Stuck at 3% and 0 bytes/s, says Stopped Downloading at 2 GB)

I originally pre-loaded Death Stranding and installed the game with no issue. However, when the game launched today, there seemed to be additional content I needed to download and the game simply wouldn't download. I restarted the Steam client multiple times and even reinstalled Steam, but nothing seemed to work. So finally I was able to uninstall Death Stranding after it continued to crash the Steam Client, and I tried to reinstall Death Stranding. The thing is, now the game won't download and I have updated other games today so I know my internet is okay.

Yeah I'm in the same boat. Pre-downloaded yesterday and loaded up steam today and it said downloading but it still hasn't finished 63.7/63.9 GB... I have plenty of bandwidth. Any ideas? I dont feel like uninstalling unless there is a solution.

I wouldn't uninstall, I made that mistake already. I would put in Steam Support ticket and put in help request on 505 Games website, that's what I did. Glad to know I'm not the only one having this issue, was going crazy trying to troubleshoot Steam this morning. Oh also others said you just have to wait for the game to un-package but I don't know if that really works.

Im bumping this, the same thing happened to me and like 0rion, I made the mistake of unistalling and now Im getting nowhere with the download stopping after a few ticks. gonna put my ticket in

Well let us know if you find the solution to getting the download to start up again. I'll keep you guys updated as well.

I think I found the solution. Go to the settings tab on the Steam Client, click on downloads and then open up Steam Libraries Folder under the Content Libraries section. Find the drive that you know Death Standing is being stored under and then right click on it and choose the option repair library folder. That allowed me to reinstall the game. I hope it allows you to at least finish your download/reinstall.

no if you preloaded you just relax. you are using drive run not network anymore. so if you preloaded on an HDD of course it will take forever..SSD maybe an hour or so..M.2 stick 45min.

I had preloaded but I uninstalled and started it all over again. Ive repaired steam library, cleared download cache, changed my download location, unchecked the dlc, and now since restarting it, Ive gotten about 30% of the way through, having to resume the download every so often cause it stops.

Steam also has given me a DISK WRITE ERROR for when it stops, but this is going on twice now I've restarted it.

A DISK WRITE ERROR seems a bit odd, I really dont think it's my hardware but the download for whatever reason just cant commit.

I waited for the installer to complete download. it did take like 25 minutes but it finally stopped and I was able to click play. I wouldn't recommend uninstalling.

Stuck also at 63,7/63,9% overnight. After deinstall and restart Steam it says 21,3% are ready... How this is possible after deinstall automatic and manually? After Restart of PC and Steam the same, stuck on 63,7%. So i try the install without DLC... stuck. Seems to be a Steam problem.Whats the golden rule? Never buy on release day. I refund it and go to EGS and... download without problems and game work.
