Its not US scaled by any means. Which is a good thing. You spend a lot of time in the second and third areas.
Biggest protip anyone can give for this game is to play at least to Chapter 6 or so before stopping to go back to side content. Reason is a lot of core tools and such are unlocked via story progression, and revisiting 'later' rather than earlier makes your life MUCH easier.
I thought the exact same thing im at my third or forth building in the quest line and on the map its nearly a quarter the way across the map.
In a nutshell, totally loving this game!
I do wish they'd made the game map a little bigger tho. When you're in the main world map it'll seem pretty big at first (enough that you'll love wheels or ziplines or both, at least for some deliveries), but myself, after a while, even if running around on foot most of the time (which I prefer doing outside of rushing deliveries for time/score) it won't seem overly huge anymore.
