Game runs with Intel GPU instead of Nvidia
Hi there,
Is anyone having this issue?
The game is defaulting to the Intel HD 620 instead of the nvidia.
Already added a nvidia profile for the game pointing out to the high performance GPU,I have the latest nvidia drivers.
What's going on?

So I had to disable my secondary GPU's so the game would stop crashing. It would obviously be using my main GPU, then a few mins in get confused and give me a DX12 error and bring up a message with all of my chips listed and their driver version.

So the game is confused.

is it an option for you to disable them as a test?

I went into device manager and shut off 2 of my 3 graphics cards. And Things are ok now.

Its a crude thing I shouldn't have to do, but I'll deal for now. I'll have to turn on those other chips for work though...

Do you have multiple monitors and is either of them using the on-board HDMI port?

I noticed a few anomalies, like the game's VRAM detection being the Intel HD rather than my nVidia. It was using the RTX stuff however, as I could turn on DLSS, but performance was erratic. Just realised I didn't have the latest drivers though, so going to try that, but might also disable the on board GPU. There were definite geometry issues, pretty major but they were most likely due to drivers, and if so I'll report back here.

In regards to Stinky's question, I do have the onboard GPU plugged into a separate monitor. If I have more issues, I'll try unplugging it and see what happens.

Tried disabling the GPU in the BIOS?

I've had related issues various times with my Laptop, and usually always solved it by making sure the external monitor is plugged into the discrete GPU then powering on the laptop. Obviously your situation may be different since using a desktop, but it could be related to which GPU is activated 'first' during initial boot up.

In BIOS do you have an option on which GPU to initialize first?

What I did tried so far.
Forced Death Stranding in the drivers to run as the high performance GPU (Nvidia)
Forced on Windows too since there are now options for that.
Using HDMI Cable to a TV seeing if it would force to work with the nvidia (kinda works in some laptops).
Disabling Intel GPU on the Device Manager (didn't solved it got even worse).

Also no options on the laptop bios to select which GPU to boot

Not sure what I could do more, probably wait for a fix.
I also have a desktop with a GTX 1650 Super runs fine, but this issue on laptops, might be gamebreaking for Laptop only users.

Cheers

Have you tried shutting down the laptop, closing the screen, plug into TV and power on but leave the laptop screen shut? If your power button is under the screen like mine, you have to close the screen quickly after pressing the button.

EDIT: Yes, you need either additional wired/wireless keyboard+mouse for this since screen is shut.

Spectulacting -> On
I've found an article which said that DF claimed that some first gen DX12 cards can't run Death Stranding like AMD GCN 1.0.
I'm not entirelly sure but Nvidia Maxwell series dispite it features DX12, doesn't have too much DX12 features, the Intel HD 620 curiously enough support a ton of DX12 features that the Maxwell series don't dispite it is obviously super weak!
Can it be that?

Spectulacting -> OFF
